EFI Announces Built-in Technology for Xerox Color Printers

Press release from the issuing company

Foster City, Calif. - Electronics for Imaging, Inc. (EFI) (NASDAQ: EFII), the world leader in enabling networked printing solutions, today announced that its built-in controller technology is now powering Xerox Corporation's (NYSE: XRX) new Phaser 1235 and 790 color printers. Both Phaser products were announced yesterday by Xerox. The Phaser 1235 is an important milestone in allowing corporations to more quickly, affordably and accurately print documents in color, rather than having to rely on black-and-white printers. The Phaser 790 for graphic arts professionals is Xerox's replacement for the industry-leading Phaser 780. The new Phaser 1235 is one of the highest-quality, best price/performance networked color and black-and-white printers in its class - printing 1200 dots per inch (dpi) at 12 pages-per-minute (ppm) in color, and 20 ppm in black-and-white. EFI leveraged its industry leading technology to offer Xerox a built-in solution that is seamlessly incorporated into the Phaser 1235 -- ensuring a consistent user experience with Xerox printers. These qualities, in addition to its small footprint and duplexing capabilities, make the Phaser 1235 an excellent choice for corporate workgroups needing to quickly, accurately and affordably print business documents. The new Phaser 790 tabloid color laser printer, a replacement for the industry-leading Phaser 780, offers 50 percent faster print speeds and 30 percent faster processing time than its predecessor. Geared toward graphic arts professionals, it also delivers superior print quality, two-sided printing, and the most versatile color management tools in its class. The Phaser 790 incorporates EFI's Fiery technology and includes an array of Fiery tools, including: ColorWiseÆ 2, EFI's color management system; NetWiseÅ 2, EFI's network architecture which helps accelerate setup and ensure seamless connectivity; WebToolsÅ, software which allows users to monitor print jobs remotely over the Internet; and connectivity for EFI's Command WorkStationÅ, an intuitive graphical user interface for managing jobs, print queues and workflow from a centralized location. Commenting on the new products, Guy Gecht, CEO, EFI, said, "Together, EFI and Xerox have developed solutions that add tremendous value to corporate and graphic arts customers. The Phaser 1235 is an important step in bringing affordable, high-quality color printing to office environments. The Phaser 790 offers the quality, speed and flexibility that graphic arts customers demand. We believe our commitment to extensive research and development is a large reason partners like Xerox choose to work with us on market-leading, powerful products. "EFI continues to offer Xerox the high quality and powerful technology that our customers have come to expect," said Gerry Perkel, President, Xerox Office Printing Business. "We are pleased to partner with EFI in delivering excellent price/performance solutions."
