IKON To Resell Canon, Ricoh and HP High End Page Printers

Press release from the issuing company

Valley Forge, Pennsylvania- IKON Office Solutions (NYSE: IKN) today announced it will incorporate high-end page printers from Canon, Ricoh and Hewlett-Packard into its extensive line of solutions offerings. As it works to meet evolving customer demands, IKON continues to expand its offerings with current partners Canon and Ricoh, and has forged a new relationship with Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HWP), an industry leader in printer technology. The incorporation of page printers into IKON's product portfolio is a key element in the company's drive to deliver a greater variety of document management and production solutions to its customers. The 5,000-strong IKON sales force will evaluate customers' document applications, output needs and human resources and design the most effective technology-independent solutions in the industry. IKON's 9,000 highly trained service professionals already support page printers, as well as solutions that include digital copiers, document delivery systems, managed print services and Web-enabled document management applications, such as Digital ExpressÆ 2000. "This printer strategy represents IKON's continued dedication to meeting our customers' ever-changing business communications needs," said James Forese, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IKON Office Solutions. "The strength of this expanded offering lies in IKON's ability to seamlessly blend traditional imaging devices, emerging technologies, e-services and the largest network of digital production facilities into customizable solutions that meet the document workflow requirements of any customer, large or small." According to industry consultants CAP Ventures, as the office environment moves from analog to digital systems, users are increasingly printing, rather than copying, documents. "We estimate that the migration from copies to prints in the office will accelerate rapidly over the next three years," said Charlie Corr, Group Director for On Demand Services. "IKON is on the right track, not only integrating a variety of printers into its product offering, but adding analytical and support services to the sales process. Users are becoming increasingly concerned about the total costs associated with management and production of documents and are looking for vendor partners who can help them structure cost effective solutions. This is tied to the migration of many pages to color and the general proliferation of print devices." "IKON customers will benefit from an expanded print services offering, including on-site management, maintenance and support of cutting-edge imaging technology, as well as comprehensive document workflow solutions," said Barbara Pellow, Senior Vice President of Marketing, IKON Office Solutions. "Our primary objective is to deliver complete solutions-helping our customers communicate business information more effectively." IKON Office Solutions (www.ikon.com) is one of the world's leading providers of products and services that help businesses communicate. IKON provides customers with total business solutions for every office, production and outsourcing need, including copiers and printers, color solutions, distributed printing, facilities management, imaging and legal outsourcing solutions, as well as network design and consulting, application development and technology training.
