Orbus Celebrates its Seventh Year

Press release from the issuing company

Bolingbrook, Illinois, (September 14, 2008) --- Orbus Incorporated is proudly celebrating its seventh year in business with continued expansion in their graphics, sales and customer service departments.

Orbus began in a modest 5,000 sq. ft. facility on South Michigan Avenue, near downtown Chicago in the fall of 2001.  Within their first year of business, they had developed a range of over thirty products, acquired a graphics company and then relocated both businesses to a 27,000 sq. ft. facility on the near northwest side of the city.

By January 2003, Orbus had a fully established graphics department providing creative support for a growing range of over fifty display products. By the 3rd quarter of 2003, Orbus had launched it’s highly successful ‘Orbital Expo-Truss’ system, pioneering the concept of fast-ship, ‘off-the-shelf’ truss exhibit kits.

January of 2004 marked a milestone in Orbus’ history with the launch of the first edition of ‘The Exhibitors’ Handbook,’ which is now widely accepted as one of the best selections of unbranded tradeshow products in the USA. The Exhibitors’ Handbook has become the unbranded flagship of the Orbus product range with over 120,000 printed copies distributed annually.

By mid 2004, Orbus had grown to over forty employees and diversified its graphic services to include solvent banners and dye-sub fabric printing. They had firmly established a solid reputation and foundation as the USA’s primary up and coming trade show supplier, with over a hundred products and trade customers in almost every major U.S city.

January 2005 saw a further expansion both in both the production and warehouse areas when the company acquired an additional 26,000 sq. ft. neighboring factory unit and combined the buildings to increase its total operating size to 53,000 sq. ft.
With over sixty employees and a continually increasing product range, this expansion was quickly absorbed and before that years end, Orbus was beginning to make plans for another relocation.

At the beginning of 2006 the Orbus graphics department was reaching capacity with seven large format inkjet printers running around the clock, six days a week. Extensive research was followed by a substantial investment, and in March 2006 Orbus took delivery of a new Jet-i 33:18, grand format solvent printer, which single-handedly quadrupled Orbus’ banner printing capabilities. March also marked the end of a four month search for a new home for the company, when an agreement was reached on a newly constructed, state-of-the-art, 130,000 sq. ft. distribution facility in Bolingbrook, a south west suburb of Chicago.

During the following twelve months, Orbus went from strength to strength and by the summer it had been unofficially recognized as one of the USA’s top five market leaders by several trade publications and leading tradeshow authorities. The Exhibitors’ Handbook, which had now grown into a forty page catalog, was joined by three new catalogs, representing three new divisions of Orbus. Luminosity Lighting was launched in October as a separate division offering a new range of display and tradeshow lighting products. SignPRO Systems was launched in November as Orbus’ first tentative step into the modular signage industry, and DFA Imports was launched in December as a separate range of imported economy display products. December 2006, also brought the completion of construction on their new building, and before the year was out, Orbus relocated to its new facility.

Since then Orbus has made several significant investments into state of the art printing technology with the purchase and acquisition of a new D-Gen direct to media dye-sub fabric printer, and a Jet-i UV flatbed printer in the fall of 2007, and just recently a Jet-i AquaJet direct to media dye-sub fabric printer from Gandinnovations of Toronto, Canada.

Now, with over 120 employees, and additional sales offices in New York, North Carolina and California, Orbus is celebrating its seventh birthday as one of the U.S.A’s top trade suppliers of portable & modular tradeshow products and graphics.
