New TAGA Site Launched Today

Press release from the issuing company

BOSTON -- October 23, 2000 -- Digital Art Exchange, Inc. (DAX), the first managed Internet and application service provider for the graphic communications industry, and the Technical Association for the Graphic Arts (TAGA) today unveiled the organization's new web site, www.taga.org. Designed, developed and hosted by DAX, the new site was created for TAGA's 900 members worldwide, and the graphic arts community at large, so they could easily navigate among the various sections of the site. The Rochester Institute of Technology hosts TAGA's full-time staff at its campus in Rochester, NY. TAGA operates globally, however, and is made up of researchers, scientists, production personnel and engineers employed by printers, publishers, pre-media companies, as well as providers of systems and software, inks, paper, and printing equipment companies. As part of this well-known organization within the graphic communications industry, TAGA members share information on current and emerging technologies for graphic arts print production and related processes. While members of TAGA will still find similar content on www.taga.org, what they will notice immediately is the site's updated appearance, easy-to-use features and continuously updated information. The new site design provides a framework for TAGA to add more sophisticated features in the near future. Now hosted in the DAX Data Center, most users will also notice that access to the site is instantaneous, and the previous time it took to load is eliminated. By combining speed and ease-of-use, the overall concept of the redesign will better draw current and new members to the site while maintaining TAGA's long-standing effort to provide important, cutting edge technical information valuable to graphic communications professionals. As a strong supporter of TAGA, DAX helped the organization re-design its web site after successfully designing, hosting and maintaining several other popular graphic arts industry organizations' sites, including the Research & Engineering Council (www.recouncil.org), the Digital Distribution of Advertising for Publications Association (www.DDAP.org), Specifications Web Offset Publications (www.SWOP.org) and R&E Council's www.smartfactory.com web site, to name a few. "TAGA is one of the most important and influential organizations in the worldwide graphic communications community", said Chuck Gehman, Vice President of Technology at DAX and a member of TAGA. "We are proud to be hosting the TAGA web site and doing our part to help broaden the reach of the organization via the world wide web." "TAGA is grateful to DAX for re-designing and hosting our web site," said TAGA President Dr. Richard Holub, of IMAGICOLOR. "DAX has compiled an impressive record of hosting highly frequented topical forums for our industry, and we are pleased about our association with DAX." About TAGA...Organized in 1948, TAGA is the only global professional technical association for the graphic arts industries. TAGA, which has over 900 individual members worldwide, also maintains the industry's best permanent set of technical papers and abstracts. TAGA serves the CTO, CIO, and R&D management personnel of printers, publishers, and pre-media companies, as well as engineers and scientists employed by graphic arts systems and equipment providers, ink manufacturers, and paper manufacturers. TAGA focuses on graphic arts systems, software, and computer technology developments, as well as the more traditional areas of press, ink, and paper engineering applications. The association also provides guidance and support to its 15 active student chapters around the world, including chapters in Canada, France, Sweden, Taiwan, and Wales. TAGA's Annual Technical Conference provides students opportunities to participate in several competitions as well as opportunities to meet prospective employers. In addition, through the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation, TAGA sponsors many scholarships and fellowships each year to deserving graphics communications students.
