National Printing Supplies Distributor Increases Online Business 25%

Press release from the issuing company

CAROL STREAM, IL -GOprinter, Inc., a leading applications service provider (ASP) of eBusiness solutions for manufacturers and sellers of printing supplies, equipment and paper products, reports that the on-line sales of their client, All Printing Resources has reached 25% of total company sales in July 2000. This is up from 20% in April as reported in the June issue of Paper, Film & Foil Converter magazine and eNow Reports All Printing Resources (APR) based in Glendale Heights, IL, has five distribution centers throughout North America. APR, which offers a wide range of supplies to the flexographic printing market, began selling through its web site (www.teamflexo.com) less than two years ago. Today, on-line sales account for 25% of APR's overall sales volume and the company estimates that, within a year, 50% of its orders will originate on-line. "There is no question that all forward-thinking companies in the channel are looking at all aspects of eCommerce to enhance their businesses, both on the sell and buy ends," says Dave Nieman, president and CEO of All Printing Resources. Nieman has noticed a growing trend towards on-line procurement. "Many seem to be struggling with what their next steps should be and who to trust to give them the best long-term solution." Nieman adds, "We utilize GOprinter for the development, management and hosting of our electronic catalogs and eBusiness applications, and for the continued advancement of our e-commerce capabilities as our customers demand more features and faster response times to the development of these features." Nieman admits that few customers in the graphics and printing industries request an eCommerce solution. But once they use the system, they do not want to be without it. "Being able to order supplies on-line without talking to another person makes my life a whole lot easier," says Lynne Regan, buyer for Packaging Personified, a Carol Stream, IL, converter of plastic bags. "There is still a lot of human contact, but it really reduces the possibility of human error," says Regan. "If there's an error in the order, it's because I entered it wrong, so I have total control over what I receive." Regan adds, "Ordering on-line has also helped reduce the amount of paper that reaches me, and the e-mail order can be deleted when supplies are received. It makes my life easier, and it cleans up after me. It's like having a maid." "Buying on-line makes it simple", says Pat Marquart, plant buyer/environmental coordinator for Printpack, Atlanta, GA, one of the nation's largest suppliers of flexible packaging. "There are no more phone calls so you don't have to leave voice mail messages back and forth. For us, it's great. And delivery times are dramatically reduced. Our inventory reduction has been unbelievable." "We have slashed our raw materials storage area from 370,000 to 90,000 sq ft. We order approximately 110 different products from APR, which accounts for more that 50% of our stockroom and compromises a majority of that reduction in storage space", says Marquart. States Greg Howell, President & CEO of GOprinter. "All Printing Resources was first in the industry to move forward with an eCommerce solution. Their success proves that printers are seeking improved ways to interact with their suppliers. Their vision of combining Internet technologies with traditional distribution, service and product expertise will be a winning strategy going forward."
