Free WhatTheyThink webinar, sponsored by Esko, outlined how label businesses are benefiting from smart automation

WhatTheyThink reported that more than 150 industry professionals registered to attend a free printing industry educational webinar, Improving Label Production Service Levels with Smart Automation, sponsored by Esko. The session was moderated by WhatTheyThink Senior Editor Cary Sherburne and featured two panelists who provided insight into the automation initiatives they have implemented, how those have affected their businesses, and what they believe the future of label production looks like.

The free webinar archive is available by visiting WhatTheyThink.com and selecting the Webinars tab.

“Many converting operations may believe they have reached the limit of their capacity with steps they have already taken to improve operations.,” said Sherburne. “But there is still more than can be done. In this session, we heard from two very different companies who have taken label production to a new level with smart workflow automation, taking tasks that previously took hours down to mere minutes and minimizing chance for error along the way. One was a large multi-site and the other was a smaller family-owned business. It was fascinating to hear about their similar paths, and how automation is a smart and very doable investment even for smaller companies.”

Sherburne was joined by:

  • Marco De La Vega, CFO of Blair Labeling, a prime label, tag, and film printer. Marco has implemented and overseen the design of a beta press for one of the market’s leading press manufacturers, helped with the implementation and workflows for a leading prepress software company, and tested new materials for the largest paper manufacturer in the world.
  • Steve Parato, Operations Manager, Cyber Graphics. Steve has more than 20 years’ experience in the print, packaging and container industry. He is skilled in press checks, print management, prepress operations, color management, workflow operations and digital printing.

“We are pleased to partner with Esko to make this important webinar available to our audience,” said Eric Vessels, President, WhatTheyThink. “Automation is the watchword in today’s print and packaging industry, and Esko has dedicated itself to providing smart automation tools to the industry. We appreciate their generosity in sponsoring this important industry event, making it available to our viewers at no charge. Our speakers validated that the Packaging Simplified approach promoted by Esko is working for their businesses.”
