Think Patented Increases its Offerings with Versafire CP and Easymatrix 106 CS from Heidelberg

Press release from the issuing company

Kennesaw, Ga. – With its customers’ needs growing, Think Patented of Miamisburg, Ohio installed the Versafire CP and the Easymatrix 106 CS from Heidelberg in order to increase capacity, productivity and offer new products for their clients.
Versafire CP Produces Greater Speed, Cost Efficiency and Reliability

After using its Versafire CV for 2 years, Think Patented needed to add an additional digital press to satisfy its customers growing digital needs. The company decided that the Versafire CP was the right digital press for them because it would continue to give them the top-notch quality and reliable color consistency all Versafires produce while also printing at speeds up to 130 pages-per-minute.

“We were already familiar with the Versafire products and knew that it would be consistent for all of our print jobs, so it was an easy transition,” said Tammy Caserta, Director of Digital Production. “It’s given us additional capacity by printing almost double the speeds of the older digital press.”

The Versafire CP impresses with its exceptionally smooth material flow at high print speeds and its precise print quality— even on coated or thicker paper. Being highly automated, the Versafire CP makes it possible to complete tasks not only more easily, but also with greater speed, cost efficiency and reliability.

“We’re able to be more automated than ever with the Versafire CP,” said McNerney. “With the addition of the Plockmatic booklet maker at the end of the Versafire, we’re able to have our material folded and stapled, which means everything is completely finished inline.”

Increased Offerings through Easymatrix 106 CS
The company was also ready to give their customers more in-house postpress offerings. Before installing the Easymatrix, Think Patented had a single diecutter that could only work with smaller formats, while all the other jobs were outsourced. Processing boards as thick as 78 pt. and up to 29.4” x 41.7” format at speeds up to 7,700 sheets per hour, the Easymatrix 106 CS is larger than most die-cutters in its class and is able to handle all sheets that are produced on the company’s Speedmaster XL 106 41” press.

“Our operators running the Easymatrix love the machine,” said Jim Brown, Postpress Manager. “The learning curve on the diecutter was really short and easy, so it has allowed them to get really comfortable with the machine quickly.”

Now that Think Patented does not have to send their diecutting jobs to another source, the company is able to cut throughput times while also increasing productivity and maintaining the quality of their products and keep more profit in-house.

The two machines are not the first pieces of equipment that Think Patented purchased from Heidelberg. The company has a long list of Heidelberg technology in their print shop including Prinect Pressroom Manager, Speedmaster XL 106-5+LX with UV and Inpress Control, Quickmaster 46-2, POLAR 115 cutter, and POLAR 137 high-speed cutter.
