Nearly 400 Attend R&E Council GraphExpo Breakfast

White Stone, VA, October 1999-The Research and Engineering Council of the Graphic Arts Industry breakfast at GraphExpo 2000 attracted more than 360, including a delegation of 20 from Rochester Institute of Technology. A highlight of the breakfast was the presentation of a check for nearly $4000 to the Print & Graphics Scholarship Foundation-formerly the National Scholarship Trust Fund-to assist the Foundation in its Campaign for the 21st Century. The check represented proceeds from the GraphExpo 99 breakfast held by the Council. The GraphExpo 2000 breakfast was chaired by R&E Council Executive Committee member Ted Ringman. Speakers at the breakfast in Chicago included Dennis E. Mason, president of Mason Consulting; Larry Warter, director of new business development for Fuji Photo Film USA, Steve Musselman, senior business development manager for Agfa, R. Joseph Abbot, director of technical support for MAN Roland Web Press Division; Andrew Fetherman, national accounts liaison for Muller Martini; Charles Corr, group director for CAP Ventures Ralph F. Box, Jr., executive vice president of sales for Muller Martini; and John Sweeney, Director of Color Measurement Systems for Graphics Microsystems. The speakers commented on key product introductions at the show, as well as on critical trends in the industry. In addition, William C. Lamparter, president of PrintCom Consulting Group outlined the MustSee'Em selections made at the Executive Outlook meeting which immediately preceded GraphExpo 2000, and GATF president George Ryan disclosed the winners of the 2000 GATF Intertech Awards. Commenting on the success of the breakfast, R&E Council managing director Ronald L. Mihills said: "Graphic arts industry personnel from around the world attend R&E Council breakfasts at major trade shows to learn the latest trends in the printing, publishing and packaging business. The R&E Council Critical Trends breakfast at PRINT 2001 will be held in Chicago on September 8, 2001." The Research & Engineering Council of the Graphic Arts Industry is dedicated to the education of printing industry personnel in the latest technologies and productivity improvement methods. Members include publishers, printers, educators, consultants and suppliers, who meet to share information and learn about leading edge technologies affecting the graphic arts industry. The Council annually holds four seminars-Prepress, Pressroom, Bindery, and Digital Networked Production Systems-where the latest technologies are reviewed in the context of actual production. The Council also holds technology breakfasts at key industry trade shows, and an annual meeting highlighting critical trends in the industry.
