Canada's national statistical agency - Statistics Canada located in Ottawa, Ontario recently installed a Standard/Horizon automated AFC-564A folding system to their print department.

The Standard/Horizon AFC-564A is computer-controlled folder combines superior feeding and registration with touch-screen controls. The operator can easily select from 14 pre-set folds or set up to 200 custom folds. The AFC-564A is ideally suited for the most challenging production environments and produces consistent result through automated set-ups, user-friendly interface, rugged construction and proven reliability.

Over the years, Statistics Canada has seen an increase in jobs but at decreased run lengths. They needed to find an approach to not only automate their finishing in order to allow simple and super-quick changeovers, but to steadily produce high-quality folds. Having already recognized the capabilities of Standard/Horizon equipment in their shop, moving forward with another Standard/Horizon system was the logical move to best fit to their needs. Perrry Dorris, center manager at Statistics Canada stated that "we do a lot of make readies and some really small run digital jobs, so this folder is a perfect fit."

The AFC-564A folder was purchased from KBR Graphics, the Canadian distributor for Standard/Horizon Finishing Systems. Karl Belafi Sr., president at KBR Graphics said that "Our relationship with Standard/Horizon is 30 years strong. Their constant innovations and trustworthy technology has definitely proven itself throughout the years. We have many customers that are either steadily operating decades-old Standard/Horizon equipment or upgrading to newer versions of the same machines."
