Press release from the issuing company

The new Expanded Gamut feature eliminates frustration and increases productivity for all extended gamut printing processes.

Minneapolis, Minn. – CGS announces the addition of Expanded Gamut Color Management to ORIS PRESS MATCHER // WEB. With a robust set of expanded gamut profiling tools, end users will increase efficiency while achieving accurate Spot Color reproduction. This creates a unique opportunity for digital press technology utilizing expanded gamut ink sets in the packaging market. Using CGS color management technology, there are no limitations in your color workflow.

ORIS Press Matcher // Web is CGS’s award winning color management solution for automated cross-fleet color accuracy and repeatability. Its patented technology is completely automated, using intelligent workflow tools to color manage digital presses easily and reliably so users can achieve consistent color reproduction across all forms of printing technologies. Key features include color stabilization technology for perfect grey balance, smooth gradients and color certification to match industry standards like GRACoL, ISO and FOGRA.

New Product Highlights
With the added feature of Expanded Color Gamut Management, CGS offers a complete suite of profiling tools designed specifically with the packaging market in mind. ORIS Press Matcher // Web creates the highest-quality Expanded Gamut Profiles optimized for rendering RGB and CMYK + 4 separations to make full use of a press’s entire gamut, achieving high quality, vivid and saturated colors, while maintaining accurate spot color recreation. “Multichannel Spot Color Optimization is a great new feature. Now, users can convert multiple spot colors in a print file, into their own custom characterized expanded gamut space. This gives our customers the opportunity to leverage their full gamut to best reproduce spot colors in up to an 8-channel output environment,” explains Cory Sawatzki, Director of Digital Print Technology at CGS.

This is a game-changer for users frustrated with traditional Spot Color printing processes because of the costly set-up and long downtime between flexo and offset press runs. Before, it could be challenging and time-consuming to achieve accurate and repeatable color reproduction limited to the CMYK gamut of digital presses. Now, with Expanded Gamut, users can manage color on the latest Expanded Gamut Digital presses and standardize up to 8 separations (CMYK + 4). This makes it possible to match spot colors without having to change ink sets on traditional presses or to easily create best in class expanded gamut separations to leverage on digital (presses or in digital production?). Ultimately saving CGS customers time and money. What’s more, it gives users even more opportunities to gang jobs, so productivity has the potential to sky-rocket.
