EFI Announces New Features and Ink Set for Jetrion 4000

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago -- September 9, 2008 -- EFI Jetrion kicks off its largest presence at Labelexpo showcasing its award-winning Jetrion 4000 industrial inkjet system and several new product features in booth #6423.

Jetrion 4000 UV Inkjet System

The Jetrion 4000 UV Inkjet System offers label converters a cost-effective, full-color narrow web alternative to toner-based digital printers for label runs of up to 50,000 labels. With speeds of up to 30.5 meters (100 ft) /minute at more than 1000 dpi with greyscale technology, the Jetrion 4000 delivers high-quality, full-color label printing up to 13.9 cms (5.5 ins) wide. The printer is a finalist in the Label Industry Global Awards, and was recently named best product of the year in the industrial (specialty) printing solutions category of the European Digital Press (EDP) Awards for 2008.

New at Labelexpo 2008

New features of the Jetrion 4000 will be on display at Labelexpo, including a pre-die cut label printing functionality, variable-data printing (VDP) enhancements, a new ink set, and a new software suite.

On display for the first time will be a Jetrion printing onto pre-die cut labels. The ability to print on labels that have already been die-cut means converters can purchase blank die-cut labels, run them through the digital press and produce finished labels. This unique new feature differentiates the Jetrion 4000 from its toner-based competitors and will be available in Q4 of 2008.

Also on display and available in Q4, Jetrion 4000 will take short-run printing to the limit by offering variable data printing. Building on its VDP leadership position in the label market with its large installed base of Jetrion 3000 series monochrome systems, the 4000 will also be able to print 1D and 2D barcodes, as well as variable text, numbers and graphics. This enables Jetrion users to fully seize the opportunity for business growth resulting from the ongoing explosion of security, track and trace, barcode and other VDP applications in the industrial inkjet market.

New UV CMYK Ink

A new UV CMYK ink is now available, designed by EFIs chemists to spread easier and work on an ever broadening range of substrates. Unlike toner-based systems, Jetrion can now print onto lower-cost uncoated stock, an important benefit to cost-sensitive converters. The system will continue to provide outstanding color reproduction combined with exceptional durability, reducing the need for costly over-laminates.

New software for the Jetrion 4000 includes EFI XFlow (PDF-based workflow solution), the Print Manager easy-to-use interface for advanced job management, and the Fiery XF RIP (raster image processor), which brings all the strength of EFIs software capabilities to label converting.  The Jetrion 4000 is the only digital label printing press whose hardware, software and UV ink are all designed and made by the same company, thus ensuring an optimized product for its users.

At Labelexpo

In addition to the EFI Jetrion booth, the 4000 industrial inkjet system is on display at the booth of newly appointed Jetrion distributor Pitman (booth # 5403).  EFI announced yesterday that they have signed a strategic distribution agreement for their range of Jetrion industrial inkjet systems with leading North American graphic arts industry supplier Pitman, further expanding Pitmans best-in-class offering.

EFI President Fred Rosenzweig

This agreement will prove beneficial for Pitman, for EFI and for the label printing and packaging industry as a whole, said EFI president, Fred Rosenzweig. Now that the Jetrion 4000 is commercially available, Pitman provides the ideal channel to speed the rate at which our breakthrough technology can help label printers make the transition to digital printing to produce short run jobs economically.
