AF&PA Thanks Congress for Reaffirming Federal Regulatory Policy on Carbon Neutrality of Forest-Based Biomass

Press release from the issuing company

Washington, D.C. – American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) President and CEO Donna Harman thanked Congress for reaffirming that federal regulatory policy should reflect the carbon-neutrality of forest-based renewable biomass. The fiscal year 2018 Omnibus Appropriations bill, which has passed the House and Senate, includes legislative language to that effect.

“Teamwork wins the day on a measure that supports the paper and wood products industry’s ability to grow the economy, create American manufacturing jobs and stay in step with global competition. We thank our bipartisan Congressional champions for ensuring that federal biomass policy appropriately reflects our companies’ use of carbon neutral biomass for energy production. We are one of the largest manufacturing sectors in the nation and deserve clear public policy direction on the carbon neutrality of forest-based renewable biomass energy. We look forward to working with the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy and the United States Department of Agriculture to implement this policy.”
