Master Print Decreases Waste, Increases Productivity with Heidelberg’s Speedmaster CX 102

Press release from the issuing company

Kennesaw, Ga. – Master Print of Newington, Virginia, which operates as a division of Vomela Specialty Company, recently upgraded their sheetfed department with the Speedmaster CX 102-6+L with “Push to Stop” technology from Heidelberg.

Higher Productivity with Improved Efficiency

With the goal of increasing capacity, improving efficiency and maintaining color consistency from the first sheet to the last, Master Print installed the CX 102-6+L. Since replacing their Speedmaster CD 102, Master Print has realized a 25 percent increase in press speeds compared to their previous press. With maximum production speeds of 16,500 sheets per hour and quick makeready times, the CX 102 helps ensure profitable production. Equipped with Prinect Inpress Control 2, the industry’s leading inline color spectrophotometer measures and controls color and register on the fly at any speed.

“Our customers demand quality first, but speed is a close second,” said Mark Auth, President of The Vomela Companies. “We pride ourselves on staying ahead of our competitors with the newest printing technologies available.”

Handling a broad range of substrates from light-weight paper to cardboard, the Speedmaster CX 102 has all the flexibility needed to handle packaging, labels or high-quality commercial jobs. The high level of automation on the press, such as “Push to Stop” technology, makes operation extremely user-friendly for Master Print’s operators and gives a more controlled and stable process. With Prinect Pressroom Manager also in their facility, Master Print has fast and reliable job processing and presetting of data. The company is minimizing makeready times, energy consumption, and paper waste with the state-of-the art press and prepress automation.

“When we installed the press, we weren’t thinking about how our ecological footprint would be impacted,” said Jose Lopez, Pressroom Manager of Master Print. “However, we’ve dramatically improved it. With our new press, we have significantly decreased our waste to less than 2%.”

Increased Efficiencies and Lower Operating Costs

To further optimize production, Master Print also purchased the Performance Plus package from Heidelberg’s SystemService.

“We love Heidelberg service and have noticed the huge impact it makes on our company,” Lopez said. “Performance Plus makes us aware of similar key issues that other print shops have and helps us maximize output from the press. In addition, Heidelberg reviews our data and gives us advice on how to further increase our productivity.”

Heidelberg has the largest service coverage in the industry and offers a wide range of technical, financial and performance services to ensure that customers are getting the most from their equipment. The wide network means that close-by technicians are readily available to help customers in need.
