Xerox Overtakes Canon as Leading Digital Color Vendor in Europe

Press release from the issuing company

ROCHESTER, N.Y., -- Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) has replaced Canon as the leading vendor of digital color copiers and multifunction equipment for the first time in Europe, according to InfoSource, a Switzerland-based independent market analyst. InfoSource's recently released research shows that Xerox's market share by brand has risen to almost 30 percent across all speed ranges in the first half of 2000, continuing the trend of Xerox market-share improvement over the past four years. In the over-30 copies-per-minute (cpm) segment alone, Xerox dominates the market with 61.3 percent share. "These results clearly indicate that customers are choosing Xerox for reliable, high-quality color equipment that meets all of their document needs," said Linda Becker, vice president of marketing, Xerox Color Business Unit. "It also validates Xerox's leadership and technological advances in digital color." In the six-month period ending in December 1999, InfoSource listed Xerox as a strong No. 2 player in digital color in Europe, with a 23.9 percent market share. However, within the next six-month reporting period, the market favored Xerox products over the competition, and Xerox jumped nearly 6 percentage points to secure the No. 1 ranking.
