Mactac® Announces Second Expansion of Innovative, Customer-Favorite CHILL AT™

Press release from the issuing company

Recently launched all-temperature label product line continues to grow

Expanding its innovative all-temperature label solutions, Mactac® Performance Adhesives Group has added three new films to its growing CHILL AT™ product line.

CHILL AT labels are custom-engineered with the latest advancements in hot-melt adhesive technology. Although formulated for demanding cold temperature applications, they have an extremely versatile temperate range spanning -65 to +150 degrees Fahrenheit – delivering exceptional adhesion at room temperature as well. CHILL AT is typically used in refrigerated and frozen foods, meat and poultry, cheese, and corrugate labeling and performs exceptionally well on low-surface energy substrates.

CHILL AT officially launched last May with a unique selection of film and paper options. In late 2017, Mactac added two more products to the growing line.

The three newest additions include chrome polypropylene (PTS7801), clear polystyrene (GFC7802) and direct thermal polypropylene (DPT7901) films for short-term indoor labeling needs.

  • Chrome Polypropylene (PTS7801): Features a bright, 2.0-mil facestock that offers an eye-catching metallic appearance. Designed for excellent printing, converting and label dispensing, the film’s proprietary top coating delivers outstanding adhesion for superior graphics and print receptivity on UV- and water-based flexographic, gravure, screen and offset printing methods.

Ideal for prime labeling applications in need of durability, PTS7801 is an optimal solution for rigid and semi-rigid container applications in food packaging and on cold, damp substrates.
  • Clear Polystyrene (GFC7802): A clear, high-gloss film that delivers great moisture resistance. Commonly used as a base material for coupon and prime labeling applications, its high stiffness and low tear strength promise high-speed die-cutting and dispensing.

Featuring the high-quality properties known of films, such as aesthesis and durability, GFC7802 is ideal for rigid and semi-rigid container applications in food packaging and other cold, damp packaging applications.
  • Direct Thermal Polypropylene (DPT7901): A 4.1-mil polypropylene film created for demanding direct thermal applications that require the durability of a film, such as water-resistance. It has exceptional die-cutting and dispensing capabilities and is designed for direct thermal and flexographic printing.

Featuring a more extreme adhesive that offers more mass of adhesive for even more demanding applications, DPT7901 is most often used for the labeling of cold, damp meat and seafood packaging applications, waxy corrugate and blast freezing.

“Since its inception, CHILL AT has been a customer favorite,” says Kathy Magyar, senior marketing manager, Mactac Performance Adhesives. “From converters to end-users, those in the food packaging business are continually impressed with the all-temperature adhesive and its incredible versatility and superior performance. The new product additions feature that same great adhesion, and in fact, DPT7901 actually has an even more extreme version of the adhesive for those really challenging applications, like blast freezing.”

CHILL AT is a true all-temperature labeling product, delivering an all-in-one, off-the-shelf food packaging label solution.
