The printing company, and its family of subsidiaries, has partnered with Techkon USA to outfit its pressrooms globally with the Techkon SpectroDens® Premium spectro-densitometer to standardize color measurements.

The printing and communications company was looking to increase color consistency across its network of printing facilities and decided the best place to start was with their color measurement instrumentation used throughout their various production environments. In the end, after a careful evaluation of the available handheld spectro-densitometers in the marketplace, the company felt the new Techkon SpectroDens offered the best combination of measurement accuracy, consistency, speed, and also instrument ergonomics. In fact, it was during the trial period, where the pressroom managers quickly realized the value of the faster measurement speeds and easy operation. When surveyed, these were the two traits press operators simply loved about the SpectroDens and ultimately allowed them to prefer the new Techkon instrument over the alternative device they were evaluating.

After consulting with the Premedia Operations and Labeling Department Managers, Techkon’s Sales Manager, Devin Abramowitz, worked collaboratively to assess the needs and draw up a product and implementation plan that would put the company on the leading edge of color quality control within the commercial print industry. The implementation plan calls for a phased approach to the deployment of instruments across most facilities. “Once our press operators got their hands on the new Techkon SpectroDens, the decision was pretty simple for us. They had never seen a spectrophotometer with that kind of design before and they found it much faster and easier to use than other devices they had used previously” said the Premedia Operations Manager at the company. “Furthermore, from a business perspective, we were thrilled with the customized implementation plan and consultative approach we received during the sales process from Devin and rest of the Techkon team.”
