Oce Upgrades Copying, Network Printing and Scanning on Digital Printers

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO--June 27, 2002-- Oce, a leading supplier of digital document management and delivery technology, announces the release of Version 5.1 software for the Oce 3155 and Oce 3165 digital copier/printers. This release continues the Oce philosophy of frequent functionality upgrades to its digital copier/printer product line, thereby increasing the value of the investment its customers have made in Oce products. Version 5.1 provides users with increased ease-of-use and productivity through enhanced copying, network management and scanning functions. It is available with new units and as an upgrade for existing customers. The improved copying functionality of Version 5.1 includes booklet copying, job building, book copying and duplexing from the glass platen. Booklet copying enables users to automatically create a booklet from a normal document without arranging the pages in the correct order. Job building, already available for scanning with Oce Scan Logic software, is now available for copying as well. Multiple size originals scanned from the glass platen and document feeder will be combined into one file for output. Also included in Version 5.1 is the ability to scan two pages of a book into the Oce unit and have the output placed on a single sheet. This functionality can also enable users to create a duplex copy from multiple originals placed on the glass platen. New printing functionality in Oce's Version 5.1 includes Adobe PostScript 3 for PDF printing and enhanced SNMP compatibility including standard printer MIBs. This gives users the ability to view and control the Oce 3155 or Oce 3165 from any SNMP compliant network management application. In addition, users can now download fonts and send PDF files directly to the Digital Access Controller of the Oce printers with a web-enabled job submission tool such as Oce JobSubmitIT. Additional printing capabilities are available in Oce Print Logic software, Oce's remote job and printer management software, which now includes remote retrieval of accounting data in CVS format. Users gain easier tracking abilities and tighter control over copying and printing costs. Version 5.1's enhanced scanning functionality includes native scan-to-PDF through Oce Scan Logic software. This capability allows users to directly generate a high quality PDF file without the need to convert from a TIFF file. The PDF file is automatically generated on the Digital Access Controller of the Oce 3155 and Oce 3165 copier/printers. Users can now be ensured that the output quality of the scanned image, when re-printed, equals the quality of making a copy, even in PDF format. "The Oce 3155 and Oce 3165 digital copier/printers have a proven track record for reliability, durability, output quality and ease of use," said Richard Thompson, Oce vice president of marketing for the Document Printing Systems business unit. "With the software's new functionality including booklet copying, enhanced network support and scan-to-PDF, our customers can be more productive than ever."
