Idealliance Awards Digital Inkjet System Certification to Océ VarioPrint i-series Inkjet color digital press

Press release from the issuing company

Press demonstrates high level of colorimetric accuracy, repeatability, and uniformity, becomes just the second inkjet system achieving Idealliance certification.

Alexandria, Va. - Idealliance, the association for the Visual Communications and Media Industry, has awarded Digital Inkjet Press System Certification to the Océ VarioPrint i-series inkjet color digital press from Océ Technologies B.V. Idealliance certified digital press systems meet or exceed established industry tolerances for excellence in the areas of colorimetric accuracy, uniformity, repeatability, durability, and registration.

Through an intensive evaluation of print technology, including workflow and print analysis, at the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Print Application Laboratory (PAL), the Océ VarioPrint i-series met all the requirements of the Idealliance certification program as set forth by the association’s Print Properties and Colorimetric Council, which continues to raise the bar for inkjet print technology performance.

“Idealliance is pleased to certify the Océ VarioPrint i-series Inkjet Press as a leader in the digital inkjet industry,” said Jordan Gorski, Idealliance Project Manager of Certification Programs. “Océ’s  efforts to continue to push the limits of print technology are evident by the high performance it achieved during the evaluation process and by the fact that the Océ VarioPrint i-series Inkjet color digital press is just the second inkjet device to achieve system certification status.”

“By leveraging the print technology of the proven Océ ColorStream inkjet web presses, the VarioPrint i-series delivers the flexibility of sheetfed production,” said Peter Janssen, Color Printing Consultant, PPP-Professional Services, Océ Technologies B.V., who led efforts to achieve certification.

“Next generation iQuarius Performance Inks, an ink formula designed to open up graphical applications on offset coated stock, is the latest update to the Océ VarioPrint i-series platform and is positioned to offer new and dynamic possibilities for print service providers looking to explore new business opportunities in the sheetfed inkjet and commercial print markets,” he continued. “This was something we at Océ felt went hand in hand with the Digital Press Certification for inkjet devices offered by Idealliance.”

Digital Press Certification is the most recognized international specification for digital production technology, and allows manufacturers to demonstrate their abilities for highly consistent color reproduction. The certification program, updated in 2017, delivers an independent third-party certification for equipment manufacturers who continuously strive to innovate through hardware and software technologies to expand the limits of print production.

The Idealliance Digital Inkjet System Certification process comprises testing and certification in the areas of color, print properties, and print production. It considers the entire press system, including the digital front-end, print engine, and paper, according to established industry tolerances for excellence. Idealliance is recognized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as the largest certifying body in the graphic and visual communications industry.
