NPES Presents 2017 Harold W. Gegenheimer Awards

Press release from the issuing company

Reston, VA - NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies awarded its 2017 Harold W. Gegenheimer Individual and Corporate Awards for Industry Service to Gina Testa and KBA, respectively. The awards, named for the former NPES president and Baldwin Technology Company chairman emeritus, recognize leadership and participation in NPES and industry activities, civic leadership and technical innovation. They were presented at the NPES 2017 Annual Conference and Brand Inspiration Forum that was produced in partnership with the CMO Council and held October 16 – 18, in Scottsdale, Arizona. The joint event brought together marketing executives and print industry leaders for a compelling program of peer-powered panels, presentations, and working group sessions that revealed key insights and direction designed to transform today’s marketing supply chain.

Gina Testa, former VP of Marketing at Xerox who now leads her own consulting company, has been a longtime and dedicated supporter of NPES and the graphic communications industry. Gina began her service on the NPES Board in 2009, in 2012 was elected to the Executive Committee, and she currently provides her leadership to the Association as chair of the NPES Brand Advisory Group. Her many years of volunteer contributions and active participation in industry association activities go beyond her service on the NPES Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Gina’s involvement extended to the benefit of other industry association Boards, including her service as a member and chair for the Marketing Committee of The Print Council, and as a volunteer on the Print Advertising Council for Small Businesses. Gina is also a past president of Xerox’s Women’s Alliance, and has been active in sponsoring scholarships for college students at Xerox and RIT.

“Few members can match the commitment Gina has exhibited to NPES,” said Thayer Long, president of NPES. “We are honored to be able to recognize her longstanding dedication to NPES and our industry.”

KBA, the Corporate Award recipient, has been an industry leader providing technological innovations that have served to drive our industry forward. The organization was particularly recognized for the past support and many contributions its leaders have made to NPES and to the industry. Among the variety of its involvement with NPES and the Association’s research arm, PRIMIR, KBA has been active in the work of developing industry standards with its employees serving on the CGATS Committee and USTAG Working Groups, and they have also participated by chairing PRIMIR, and serving on a variety of study task forces to guide updates and the development of new PRIMIR research.

“Over many years, KBA has been a leader in innovation working to provide efficient and cost-effective systems to the graphic communications industry,” said Long. “We are grateful for KBA’s meaningful contribution to the industry—and to NPES.”

Testa and KBA each received plaques, and their names will also be added to a plaque of past awardees on display at NPES headquarters. NPES has also established two Harold W. Gegenheimer Award scholarships with the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation, to which two thousand dollars is given each year. These scholarships are awarded to the employees, or children of employees, of NPES members who are pursuing studies in graphic communications.
