Konica Minolta Enhances UX with DaVinci Designer Tool at Print 17

Press release from the issuing company

Award-winning software selected as preferred designer for MGI finishing machines

LAS VEGAS, NV - Featured as the preferred online designer for MGI digital print finishing machines at Konica Minolta’s 16,000-foot theater during this year’s Print 17 was digital visualization tool DaVinci Designer (DaVinci). The largest exhibition for the graphic communications industry was held Sept. 10-14 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

A product of Opensoft Inc., the advanced design and 3D proofing software provides unparalleled 3D visualization of print and packaging designs for B2B and B2C markets. Konica Minolta, a provider of business and industrial imaging products and authorized dealer of DaVinci, demonstrated its proofing capabilities for digital finishing during the four-day trade show.

“The print experience today begins at the buying stage,” said Brett Heap, CEO, DaVinci Designer. “Konica Minolta recognizes that integrating an online designer with a realistic 3D soft proof elevates the online user experience before a single print goes to press.”

Print resellers and graphic print shops expressed much interest in integrating DaVinci into web-to-print storefronts to enhance the print buying experience. Its user-friendly DIY designer tool easily generates special effects, such as spot UV, texture and foil, without the creation of a separate layer.

Realistic renderings simulate light reflections and other variances of the physical print product from an online viewer. An interactive rotation feature allows users to preview 3D soft proofs from any angle up to a full 360 degrees.

Accurate folding and unfolding animations of packaging products and 3D objects show how designs will function. Adjustments to graphics and layout can be made immediately through the program’s intuitive real-time editor before going to press, saving considerable time and money.

Able to fully integrate into existing e-commerce sites, the web-to-print software solution features applications for security printing, textiles and promotional items. It powers wholesale trade printer Rent A Press and online printing company Overnight Prints.
