Multiple rotary screen unit and CtP laser imaging system sales for SPGPrints at Labelexpo Europe 2017

Press release from the issuing company

Boxmeer, The Netherlands - SPGPrints celebrates an outstanding Labelexpo Europe 2017, with agreements signed at the show to install multiple rotary screen printing units and multi-process CtP laser imaging systems to leading label converters around the world.

SPGPrints exhibited rotary screen solutions covering every step in the workflow for labels and packaging, including its RSI®(Rotary Screen Integration) printing units as well as its 100% nickel re-imageable RotaMesh® and re-usable RotaPlate®screen programmes.

A highlight of SPGPrints’ sales at the show was a landmark deal with Grafomed Printing Company that will take narrow-web rotary screen technology into Serbia for the first time. Grafomed will install an RSI® Compact printing unit on a 330mm-wide six-colour MPS flexo press at its Aleksandrovac printing facility.

New screen solutions also attracted nterest with contracts to supply the new RotaMesh Glitter Screen, for glitter, shimmer and optically variable applications, providing a means of adding value to products with effects not previously available.

SPGPrints also sold several variLEX laser engraving systems to flexo and screen label converters in the USA, Australia, Thailand, Iran, the UAE, as well as Europe. variLEX is a single, digital imaging solution for high-definition flexo, dry-offset, screen and letterpress printing formes, with resolutions of up to 5080dpi, uniquely combining ablation and exposure in one machine.

“This was an outstanding Labelexpo for SPGPrints,” commented Hank Guitjens, commercial manager label printing. “The high level of installation agreements reflects the growing recognition by label converters that rotary screen printing, with its opacity, tactile features and vibrant colours, is essential for conveying retail brand quality. Label converters recognise SPGPrints’ prepress and printing innovations for a wide range of applications as the key to delivering the brand owners’ high expectations, reliably, and with a fast return on investment.”

SPGPrints has focused heavily on developing screen printing solutions for new applications in the last two years. Samples displayed for effects including 3-point and oriental text, to raised varnish and braille dots, gave a first-hand impression of the process’s versatility.

SPGPrints’ PIKE 700 decor industrial hybrid UV-inkjet press also generated significant interest. The PIKE 700 decor integrates high-resolution digital capabilities with extensive pre-treatment and added value finishing processes, in a single pass, at high speed. The 700mm-wide roll-to-roll press, using the company’s Archer® technology, features up to 10 inkjet positions in a central cylinder configuration, handling supported and unsupported paper and film materials up to 450µm thickness. Wide substrate versatility is enhanced thanks to extensive inline web-cleaning, corona treatment, flexo priming and rotary screen options.
