ArborOakland Group Installs Océ VarioPrint i300 and Horizon 5500 stitcher

Press release from the issuing company

Royal Oak, MI – ArborOakland Group of Royal Oak, Michigan is excited to announce it has installed the Océ VarioPrint i300.  The company also installed a Horizon 5500 stitcher to compliment production from the press.

Don Kirkland said “The Océ VarioPrint i300 was installed as a central piece to the company’s long-term strategic vision. We’ve been making incremental investments in the company’s future and we are excited to see this piece of our larger plan come to fruition.” ArborOakland Group acquired two different companies earlier in the year and recently doubled the company’s production square footage when it completed the purchase and build-out of a second building where the new press and stitcher are installed.

“There’s no question that for ArborOakland Group to continue providing value to its clients, we needed to take our production capability to the next level and after looking at various options we felt the Océ VarioPrint i300 allowed us to do just that.” Kirkland said. Continuing he added, “The i300 will allow us to serve our existing clients with a state-of-the-art option to more traditional printing while also allowing us compete for new work and new clients.” Installation was completed on August 25th, making ArborOakland Group only the 2nd installation of the press in the state of Michigan.

Mike Penkala, Manager of Digital Operations at ArborOakland Group said “When it came to print production capability, the i300 is simply an amazing technological accomplishment. This press takes our digital operation into a whole new category; giving our production team one heck of a resource to satisfy our customers’ wide-ranging digital needs. Watching the 100 hours it took to install this press, confirms our expectation that this press is going to deliver on the hype more than Mayweather vs. McGregor.”

Commercial ink jet printing technology has been outpacing toner based technologies over the past few years as quality and speed have improved, while press costs have remained competitive. The Océ VarioPrint i300 is capable of 17,000+ pages per hour (294 pages per minute). The manufacturer boasts of an inline rejection process that pulls pieces in real-time based on quality control protocols. The press also includes a self-diagnostic capability which detects the need for new parts and through a manufacturer program, deliver the part before the operator is aware it is needed.

“With new advancements to our Océ VarioPrint i300, we’re seeing customers take the realm of application versatility to new heights, exemplified by ArborOakland Group,” said Francis McMahon, senior vice president, Marketing, Production Print Solutions, Canon Solutions America. “Embracing the technology is the first step, but ArborOaklandGroup’s commitment to inkjet transcends the installation of this inkjet press. They are committed to pushing the envelope and dedicating themselves to creating new and unique opportunities for their customers around the country.”

Kirkland said “We remain excited for the future and the opportunities for both our customers and our organization. Continuing to invest in new capabilities and facilities is part of our larger goal of becoming an indispensable and valuable partner to our growing customer base.”
