SmartSoft to Demonstrate New PressWise Print MIS Features at Print ‘17

Thursday, September 07, 2017

Press release from the issuing company

Enhancements to PressWise, the end-to-end SaaS-based MIS and Print Automation software, will be shown at the annual print industry gathering.

Westlake Village - SmartSoft will be demonstrating the latest enhancements to PressWise, the all-in-one web-to-print, MIS and Workflow Automation solution, at the Print ’17 show in Chicago, Illinois later this month. The exposition, which runs from September 10 – 14th at the McCormick Place Convention Center, is considered the largest gathering of the printing, publishing and mailing/fulfillment communities in the Americas.

Situated in the Software Design & Workflow Prepress section of the convention in Booth 538, PressWise is an end-to-end print shop management system designed to help printers grow their business while eliminating touches from their workflow. Demonstrations of the cloud-based print MIS and production automation platform will focus on the results of a year’s worth of innovation and product development.

Some of the new features that will be shown to attendees at Print ‘17 include:

Purchase Orders – having a streamlined way to outsource work is of paramount importance in today’s printing environment – whether it’s a single process (sending something out to laminate), getting materials to complete a project (grommets, stands, etc.), or having the entire product produced outside your plant.  PressWise has integrated the Purchasing process into the production workflow to allow outsourcing at any of these levels.

Full Service Mailing – PressWise now offers fully integrated Full Service Mailing software, including a convenient folder that contains all required mail.dat files to make uploading to PostalOne! more efficient. This is part of a wider overhaul of the Mailing Module in PressWise that includes multiple UI enhancements to make the whole process of managing Direct Mail campaigns as efficient as possible.

Advanced Impositions
– in addition to Work and Turn support, PressWise now supports Work and Tumble impositions with clear images to let your estimator know exactly where the system is placing the gripped edge, the axis of rotation, as well as the position of any optional Dutch positions.

Signature Capture for Delivery – PressWise now gives you the ability to digitally capture proof of delivery signatures on delivery orders, including the option to view a map of the delivery address in the process.  The ‘signed’ packing slip can be automatically attached and emailed to the customer along with the invoice, eliminating not only clicks, but also time spent scanning or making a copy of the packing slip, and sending it to the customer.

Shipping Carrier Options – PressWise has always offered integrated shipping through the more common parcel carriers (UPS, FedEx, and the USPS) – however, for those with needs beyond these three, PressWise now allows the user to enter any number of Shipping Carriers, each with their own collection of Shipping Methods, tracking URLs, etc.

Single Sign-On – the SAML 2.0 protocol is now offered as an add-on service so you can use your existing authentication server on your network to control access to PressWise, both for storefront users (e.g. for In-Plants) as well as back-end users.

In addition, there are several other features currently in development that will be previewed at the PressWise booth. As Joseph Lehn, Director of Product Management for PressWise points out “We are constantly enhancing our product and service to meet the needs and requests of our customers, and our SaaS model ensures our customers have the very latest improvements and features as they become available.

“A major industry event such as Print ’17 gives us the opportunity to showcase our work to a wider audience and prove to them why we believe we have the premier print MIS and workflow automation platform on the market today. It’s also a great venue to meet with existing customers and discuss the things that matter most to them as they evolve their own businesses - their feedback and feature requests help drive our product forward in ways that make their life easier.”
