Canon Advances Productivity of imagePRESS C10000VP Digital Color Press Series with New BDT VX-370+ Long Sheet Feeder

Press release from the issuing company

MELVILLE, N.Y. – Continuing to provide solutions to help bolster the efficiency of its digital presses, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, has joined with German media handling specialists BDT Print Media GmbH to announce the VX-370+ Long Sheet Feeder, an integrated solution enabling users of Canon’s flagship imagePRESS C10000VP digital color press series to produce banner format applications at high volumes. The BDT VX-370+ Long Sheet Feeder will extend the capabilities of the Canon imagePRESS C10000VP Series by allowing print providers to create more graphic arts applications, such as book covers, six panel brochures, posters and secondary packaging, more productively.

“Canon takes great pride in collaborating with fellow businesses from across the globe to continually innovate our products and help users meet the demands of the marketplace,” said Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “By working with BDT to extend the capabilities of the Canon imagePRESS C10000VP Series, we have developed a new accessory that builds upon the success of our celebrated production color press and helps print providers offer exciting new applications to their customers.”

“We are very pleased that Canon chose to work with BDT Print Media to bring enhanced banner sheet feeding to their flagship digital press,” said John Kuta, President, BDT Print Media North America. “The advanced feed capabilities of the VX-370+ Feeder pair extremely well with the imagePRESS C10000VP Series and together we can offer an excellent response to customers’ requirement for flexibility, productivity and output quality.”

The versatile VX-370+ Feeder can handle media stack heights up to 19.7 inches and works with papers from 16 pound Bond to 130 pound Cover (60 to 350 gsm), and paper lengths up to 30 inches. The feeder incorporates BDT’s patented Tornado ‘vortex’ technology for media separation, lift and transport, helping to ensure sensitive and reliable handling of a full range of media, including coated and uncoated paper, textured substrates and specialty medias. Media feed parameters for repeat jobs can be stored in the device’s memory, enabling automatic setup to help reduce job changeover times for optimum productivity.

Canon’s imagePRESS C10000VP Series, consisting of the imagePRESS C10000VP/C8000VP color digital production presses, is designed to help commercial printers, in-plant production environments, direct mail and transaction print service providers to produce a broader range of applications in shorter turnaround times. The Series delivers offset-like, vibrant and consistent output quality with high print

resolution of up to 2400-by-2400 dpi. Through the integration of the VX-370+ Feeder, users can reliably run up to 30 inch long sheets through the imagePRESS C10000VP/C8000VP presses thanks to BDT’s patented Tornado suction feeding technology and its dedicated long sheet registration bridge. The gentle contact pressure exerted by the Tornado technology helps reduce the risk of marking or creasing on a wide range of stocks.

The option of additional removable carts for the BDT VX-370+ with up to 5,000 sheet1 feeding capacity each allows for offline loading of long sheet medias, minimizing the amount of time for media switchover.

Canon U.S.A. will be exhibiting the combined imagePRESS C10000VP and VX-370+ Feeder in booth #1213 at PRINT 17, held in Chicago, Illinois from September 10 to September 14, 2017.

The BDT VX-370+ Feeder will be available in the United States from October 2017.2 Availability in other regions is subject to local rollout planning and may differ.
