Rutherford to Demonstrate Closed-Loop Color Management at PRINT 17

Press release from the issuing company

DAYTON, OH - Rutherford Graphic Products, a leading developer of closed-loop color control systems for offset presses, recently finalized a partnership with X-Rite Incorporated, a global leader in color science and technology, and its subsidiary Pantone LLC, and will be showcasing combined best-of-breed color management solutions in Booth 134 at PRINT 17, Sept. 10-14 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Attendees will see Rutherford Graphic Product’s full range of closed-loop color control solutions designed to work with X-Rite color management solutions, with options for commercial printers and packaging converters of all sizes.

“We are excited to have X-Rite join us in the Rutherford Graphics Products booth at PRINT17,” said Jay Rutherford, President of Rutherford Graphic Products. “Color management is becoming more and more critical for shop of every size and shape, but the tools for getting perfect color have remained difficult to use, or expensive to maintain. Attendees will see how X-Rite IntelliTrax2, coupled with our IntelliLoop system, makes digitally-driven, closed-loop color control an easy and affordable reality for printers.”

Some of the solutions that will be on display in Booth 134 include:

  • IntelliLoop is a full-featured closed-loop color control solution that works in conjunction with X-Rite’s IntelliTrax2. Advanced features of IntelliLoop allow for reading ink key openings and sweeps immediately following scans, assuring effective key moves that get to color quickly. There is also a “roll-back” feature permitting key-openings and sweep settings from any previous scan to be automatically loaded.
  • IntelliSet leverages the digitization of color information included in the CIP data from prepress to automatically preset the ink keys, eliminating manual adjustments at the print console.

X-Rite solutions on display in the Rutherford Graphics Products booth include:

  • X-Rite IntelliTrax2, an automated color management scanning solution, offering press-side color control and fast color correction on press. It is an ideal solution for high-end, high speed printing operations and supports the latest measurement standards, allowing printers to meet new G7 and PSO/FOGRA process control requirements.
  • X-Rite eXactTM Scan, a handheld spectrophotometer used for both spot measurement and scans to better understand, control, manage and communicate color across the entire workflow.

“The combined closed loop color control solution from Rutherford Graphic Products and X-Rite can help streamline print operations by reducing make-ready times, minimizing ink and substrate waste, and automatically checking output for color drifts,” said Cindy Cooperman, Global Director of Packaging & Brand, X-Rite. “When color drift occurs, a closed-loop approach makes it fast and easy to return to acceptable tolerances. At PRINT17, printers can learn how to bring color automation to older presses to maximize performance and extend their value. This ensures that today’s printers can meet customers’ demanding requirements for color quality while staying competitive, saving on resources, and meeting tight delivery schedules.”
