Group Logic Restores Functionality Lead To Softproofing Product

Press release from the issuing company

Arlington, VA - May 2, 2002 - Group Logic, developer of best-selling network workflow software products, announced the release of version 3.1 of Imagexpo, its softproofing solution that simplifies and speeds the review and approval process for graphics and printing applications. With Imagexpo, printers and other graphics professionals transmit digital "softproofs" over the Internet to their clients. Reviewers annotate images with comments, either individually or interactively with colleagues or designers, and then return the marked up proofs. By eliminating the need to print and ship physical proofs, Imagexpo cuts review and approval cycles to hours from days. With this release, Group Logic adds native support for common graphics formats, improving ease of use and image quality, has significantly improved the Windows version of the product, and adds support for the creation of annotations and comments using XML. "These are improvements our customers have been seeking to improve the speed, accuracy, and flexibility of their softproofing work," observed Andy Lewis, vice-president of sales and marketing at Group Logic. "We've added native support for common file formats like PDF and Postscript," said Lewis. "That makes Imagexpo much easier to use, and it also eliminates situations where complex or detailed graphics could be distorted," he explained. "Our Windows offering has seen a number of improvements and offers nearly identical functionality to the Macintosh version of Imagexpo," noted Lewis. Among the enhancements to the Windows version of Imagexpo are support for large files, improved high resolution and full size printing support, and a layers palette. Both Windows and Macintosh versions add support for exposing comments and annotations via XML. With the new XML interfaces, and supporting software development toolkits, it will be easy to integrate Imagexpo into environments like the web, as well as with other applications. "Group Logic's support has been superior, I have nothing but great things to say about their service," observes Bob Buczek, Prepress and DP Manager for Holden Direct Marketing Group and an early user of the updated version of Imagexpo. He adds, "I call and they jump right on anything I ask them to, and they always get right back to us in a very timely manner." Buczek uses Imagexpo to speed the production of printing jobs for the company's customers, noting "Not only does Imagexpo benefit us in our workflow by giving us a quicker turnaround - as little as four hours - our customers are very pleased with their workflow and how fast they can get it around their department." Buczek also reports gains in accuracy from Imagexpo, "The tools for marking up proofs are easy to read and help us when making correction to the customers files," he explains, adding "There's less miscommunication, which means the job gets done and on press to meet the customer's deadline." Availability and System Requirements Imagexpo v3.1 is available immediately. With this release, Imagexpo supports Acrobat/PDF, Postscript, Encapsulated Postscript, Tagged Image Format (TIFF), JPEG, and PICT format files. Group Logic recommends Macintosh systems using Imagexpo have a G3/300 Mhz processor, 128M RAM, and Mac OS 9 or higher. For Windows operating system (98, ME, 2000, XP) users, a Pentium II or III 300 Mhz processor and 192 MB RAM are suggested.
