Mele Printing Expects to Increase Annual Sales by $3 Million with Addition of Speedmaster XL 75

Press release from the issuing company

Kennesaw, GA – Mele Printing of Covington, Louisiana has significantly increased their capacity with the addition of a new Speedmaster XL 75-5+L with Inpress Control from Heidelberg.

Yes We Can

The XL 75 replaces an older Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolor and runs alongside an XL 105 and a full suite of Heidelberg prepress and postpress equipment. By upgrading from a 20” press to a 29” press, Mele has increased their capacity and expects that the new press will allow them to grow in annual sales of $16 million to $19 million.

“At Mele Printing, our motto is ‘yes we can.’ We strive to meet or exceed all of our customers’ expectations even if that means meeting almost impossible deadlines,” said Mike Morgan, Production Manager, Mele Printing. “Our old Anicolor had impossibly fast makereadies but could no longer meet the growing demands of our customers. The XL 75 has given us tremendous ability to complete even the quickest turnaround jobs.”

The Speedmaster XL 75 delivers high print quality at maximum production speeds of up to 15,000 sheets per hour. With the highest degree of automation in its class, the XL 75 offers incomparable productivity, ease of operation and the shortest makeready times.

Mele’s new press also comes equipped with Inpress Control, a fully integrated, spectrophotometric color control system that brings the press up to color during makeready and continuously monitors and controls it during the run – without the need to pull sheets. This means that Mele can ensure consistent color for all of their customers – even on quick turn jobs.

A True Partnership

Mele credits their ability to consistently live up to their “yes we can” motto to their longstanding partnership with Heidelberg.

“Recently, we accepted a booklet job at 5:00PM on a Wednesday afternoon and had to figure out how to produce it and get it out the door the next morning. We were able to print the covers on the XL 75, the inside pages on the XL 105, cut it down on the POLAR cutter, and fold all of the pages on our Stahlfolder. We couldn’t be as successful as we are today without the quality work that our Heidelberg machines produce – at every stage of production,” sites Morgan.

In addition to running a comprehensive suite of Heidelberg equipment, Mele Printing also relies on their expert team of SystemService professionals.

“Heidelberg service also fully embraces the ‘yes we can’ motto. They’re incredible. I know that if we ever have a problem, we only have to make one call. They go above and beyond to make sure that we’re back up and running as quickly as possible,” said Morgan.
