Flint Group launches its new generation of technologically remastered Sheetfed UV Low Migration inks

Press release from the issuing company

Stuttgart – Redefining quality and stability in the press-room, Flint Group today launches its new generation of Sheetfed UV Low Migration inks; UltraCURA® Sens, UltraCURA® Sens Plas and UltraCURA® Sens Bases. Created out of a new resin technology system, these inks are the first in a series of advanced energy curing products from Flint Group to be launched in 2017.

Trevor Amps, Global Product Management Director for Energy Curing inks explains the significance of today’s launch: “We decided to use specifically selected resin principles for all our energy curing products, with common, balanced pigmentation levels. This will increase stability and performance consistency across our entire energy curing range. We’re calling it our Platform Technology, upon which all our future energy curing systems will be based.”

He continued saying, “Today, we’re launching the first products based on the new technology, our next generation low migration inks, UltraCURA® Sens, developed specifically for food packaging applications where there‘s no direct contact between the printed image and the contents of the package. ”

The UltraCURA® Sens systems are low-odour, low-migration process ink and base inks for sheetfed and web offset packaging printing.  They’re suitable for coated and uncoated papers and board and Plas is also suitable for plastic substrates. They all give excellent adhesion, good ink-water stability, good rub resistance, high colour strength, fast curing speed and thanks to low water pick up, very good press stability

Mr Amps resumes, “At the very heart of Flint Group’s core values is the drive to innovate, develop and instigate change. We also acknowledge that the packaging print market is a very fluid environment where our customers’ needs often change and innovation has become part of the landscape. And with continuing updates in regulations and the re-classification of raw materials, we’re driven to future proof our products and to develop a portfolio at the cutting edge of production performance.”

UltraCURA® Sens and UltraCURA® Sens Plas are particularly well suited for the production of packaging that complies with the requirements of the EU-regulation 1935/2004 and 2023/2006 as well as with the Swiss Ordinance 817.023.21. Additionally the series meets the requirements of the EuPIA Guideline “Printing Inks applied to the non-food contact surface of food packaging materials and articles.”
