Canon Solutions America and GMU Discuss Managed Print ROI at 2nd Annual Shared Services in Higher Education Conference

Press release from the issuing company

MELVILLE, N.Y. - Strategic Alliances have become the foundation of Canon Solutions America's Enterprise Managed Services Division (EMSD)'s engagements with higher education clients. The Division has developed a robust higher education offering that focuses on more than just delivering multi-functional print devices, software, and services. The Higher Education Advisory Team within the Division was created to conduct primary research on industry trends and to focus on opportunities in the higher education print space by identifying and implementing best practices, including benchmarking metrics to track program goals and successes.

In support of this mission, Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc., today announced EMSD's participation in the 2nd Annual Shared Services in Higher Education conference in Dallas, TX. Andrea Rai, Sr. Manager of Strategic Partnerships, EMSD, co-presented with Marc Fournier, Assistant Vice President of Business Services at George Mason University, at a workshop titled "How to Analyze Your Shared Services Center's Return on Investment (ROI)." The workshop highlighted the importance of metrics in understanding the return on investment of a managed print services program, highlighting trends at George Mason such as reduced average cost per user and user to device ratio.

"Managed print services should be considered as a gateway to start implementing shared services. Leveraging strategic partners can facilitate change, to manage all the devices that are distributed across multiple departments and hundreds if not thousands of individual staff members," says Fournier. "The Enterprise Managed Services Division is a strategic partner for George Mason University and has positioned our institution to capitalize on the managed print services model, which will lead to quantifiable monetary, Human Resources, and environmental savings."

"Benchmarking is critical to the success of our engagements," added Rai. "We help our clients establish a baseline with financial, productivity, and environmental metrics, then monitor and report against those metrics to give them a full view of the ongoing program successes. For higher education clients, we also measure success in partnership elements reflecting our collaborative efforts with the university to improve the student experience and support the community."

The Enterprise Managed Services Division has proven success growing functionally and geographically with forward thinking organizations, providing opportunities to expand collaboration with Canon Solutions America beyond traditional technology solutions and designing customized programs that leverage the vast capabilities of the world-renowned Canon brand.

With a solid reputation in managed services, the Division has developed a robust higher education offering that focuses on more than just selling printers and copiers. The Division has the foresight to go beyond the traditional vendor client agreement by leveraging the Canon organization as a true strategic collaborator for colleges and universities. The breadth of products and services coupled with the thought leadership and vertical focus add exceptional value to the Division's clients.
