httprint Partners with Committee in Summer Games Bid for San Francisco

Press release from the issuing company

httprint Selected as Print and Production Partner SAN FRANCISCO May 8, 2002 httprint, a technology and services provider focused on the printing sector, announced today that it has entered into a partnership with the Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee (BASOC), a non-profit organization committed to bringing the 2012 Summer Games to the San Francisco Bay Area. Under the partnership agreement, httprint will donate all of the printing services and staffing to execute the San Francisco Poster Program, which includes the sourcing of paper and the management and print production of 12 unique posters designed by 12 of Northern California's premier graphic artists. The public unveiling of the Summer Games theme, "The Bridge to the Future," was introduced at a press conference hosted by the BASOC at Fort Mason, San Francisco, on April 17. At today's conference, the committee announced the partner team for the San Francisco Poster Program, which includes httprint as its production partner, Dome Printing as its print partner, Sappi as its paper supplier, and nationally renowned artist Primo Angeli as the leader of the 12 Summer Games designers. httprint will produce a full collection of collateral for the Poster Program. This includes managing the coordination and limited production of 500 each of the 12 distinct poster designs, or 6,000 total, in a vertical, collectible large format size; 2000 each of the same 12 designs in a smaller format, and 2000 each of the same 12 designs as postcards. "In searching for a local print partner for the San Francisco Poster Program, we had a list of criteria that needed to be met everything from digital capabilities to full service print production expertise," said Helen Mendel, Director of Marketing for the BASOC. "httprint demonstrated marketing capabilities above and beyond just straight printing services that can prove beneficial to the Bay Area's 2012 Summer Games bid." Because the posters will run an unusually diverse gamut from several of the best resources in the creative community and because they will be used for multiple purposes, BASOC and httprint will benefit from the flexibility of Dome Printing's fully digital processes and the quality of Sappi's fine poster papers. The posters will be used as a banner display system for the SF 2012 events and the United States Olympic Committee's site selection visit, in SF 2012 publications and newsletters; and as window displays. The postcards will be distributed in bars, restaurants, galleries, and shops throughout the Bay Area; and as e-cards for distribution over the Internet. "httprint is proud to contribute, and honored to have been selected to assist the BASOC with the Bay Area's Summer Games bid," said Mark Porter, CEO, httprint. "We are confident that httprint's comprehensive managed services solutions and high-tech capabilities will meet the dynamic needs of the BASOC in producing the variety of posters and collateral needed to secure San Francisco as the site of the 2012 Summer Games." The design sets will be unveiled in series of four, with the final set being unveiled just prior to the site selection visit in July.
