ICC Announces Graphic Arts Color Experts' Day 2017 Slated for Prague in June

Reston, VA - NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, serving as Secretariat to the International Color Consortium (ICC), announces Graphic Arts Color Experts' Day will take place on June 29, 2017, at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. The focus of the full day education and networking event will be examining current colour management issues that are relevant to the printing, packaging, and publishing industries in the Eastern Europe region. A sampling of the presentation topics to be offered during the highly interactive program will include: 

  • How to work with PDF/X files
  • Using standard printing conditions and characterization data 
  • How to do soft proofing 
  • Spectral data communication from prepress to press 
  • What problems can be solved with iccMAX 
  • Multi-colour (CMYK++) printing and proofing 
  • Digital print: matching offset vs. pure digital 
  • Multiangle measurement and BRDF 
  • Consistent colour appearance

In each of their sessions, presenters from ICC member companies will introduce different aspects of colour management technology, and engage attendees in helpful question and answer exchange. Additionally, the program includes a special session for Ph.D. students from the Czech Republic and Norway to present their research on advanced colour management topics.

ICC exists to promote the use and adoption of open, vendor-neutral, cross-platform color management systems, and is responsible for the ICC profile and colour management architecture. ICC published the first profile specification in 1994 and continues to update the specification, adopted as ISO 15076-1 in 2005.
