IPA Announces Availability of PDF/X Guide

Press release from the issuing company

June 26, 2002 -- IPA has co-sponsored the creation and publication of a comprehensive guidebook explaining the portable document format (PDF) standard, PDF/X. The ULTIMATE GUIDE TO PDF/X has been created to serve the print publishing industry with accurate information on issues surrounding the creation and processing of PDF/X files. The guide covers all current PDF/X standards as well as PDF "how-to" techniques and PDF/X Plus. As the exclusive distributor, IPA has announced the guidebook is now available as an electronic download from its Website (www.ipa.org.) IPA anticipates a print version will be available in July. Realizing the potential of PDF/X, Steve Bonoff, IPA President, said "IPA members are developing workflows that allow them to leverage files for re-purposing and re-publishing in a multi-channel environment. Supporting this standard initiative is important and we are proud to be able to help bring this important resource to the industry." IPA Operational TEAM Consultant Leader, David Zwang, project coordinator for the PDF/X Guide, said "This guide was produced to address the needs of the publishing industry as it begins to embrace the new PDF/X standards. There is a lot of information included in what the standards are, how they can be used, and what is required beyond the PDF/X standards to achieve a successful print production project." Additional sponsors include DDAP (Digital Distribution of Advertising for Publication), dMACS (Digital Magazines Advertising Canadian Specifications) GASAA (Graphic Arts Services Association of Australia) as well as TIME, Inc., Enfocus Software and other PDF/X solution providers.
