Toshiba America Business Solutions Wins Award for e-STUDIO Products

Press release from the issuing company

IRVINE, Calif., (June 26, 2002) – Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS) today announced that two of its e-STUDIO digitally-connected multifunction devices – the e-STUDIO35 and e-STUDIO45 with the GL-1010 controllers – have received top honors from Buyers Laboratory Inc. (BLI), the nation’s leading independent office products testing laboratory. The e-STUDIO35 received a distinguished 2002 "Pick of the Year" award for "Outstanding Segment 3 Multifunctional Imaging System" and the e-STUDIO45 received "Honorable Mention" in the "Segment 4 Multifunctional Imaging System" category. Of the more than 100 multifunction products (MFPs) tested between spring 2001 and spring 2002, Toshiba’s e-STUDIO35 was touted "an excellent overall performer" and was recognized for its "very good ease of use, superior multi-tasking, strong reliability, good productivity and a below-average per-page supplies cost." Contributing to the e-STUDIO35’s high marks were its above average efficiency rates, well-designed, well-lit control panel offering easy navigation and access to an array of status information and Internet fax and scanning capabilities, according to BLI. Also recognized in this year’s awards competition was the Toshiba e-STUDIO45 with the GL1010 network controller, which received an "Honorable Mention." As stated by BLI, the e-STUDIO45 demonstrated "outstanding reliability performance, along with excellent ease of use, superior multi-tasking and a low price." BLI also gave the e-STUDIO45 its highest rating for image quality in copy mode and praised its easy-to-use control panel offering a multitude of status information, easy-to-navigate touch-screen menus, and versatility as both a walk-up and LAN fax, demonstrating the fasted scan-to-memory speed for fax machines tested to date. "We’re honored to have been recognized by Buyers Laboratory for the quality and innovation of our products," said Mark Mathews, vice president of Marketing for TABS. "BLI is respected for its rigorous and comprehensive testing procedures. To receive the ‘Pick of Year’ award and ‘Honorable Mention’ designations is to demonstrate an ability to not only promise, but deliver leading-edge technology and the highest standard of quality multifunction products to our customers." Featuring reliable, networked document processing for small-to-mid-sized workgroups, the e-STUDIO35 and 45 enable printing, scanning and faxing remotely from any desktop computer on the network or directly from the units. With the upgraded embedded GL-1010 document controller designed and manufactured by Toshiba, the e-STUDIO35 and 45 offer powerful multifunction networked printing capabilities, PC faxing, Internet faxing and scanning, scan-to-e-mail and scan-to-file features. When combined with the optional scan kit, the GL-1010 controller transforms the e-STUDIO35 and 45 into powerful TWAIN- compliant network scanners and enables LAN faxing through an optional 33.6Kbps walk-up fax feature. Delivering renowned image quality, both e-STUDIO units offer 2400 x 600 dpi with built-in image smoothing and 256 levels of grayscale for sharp, clear image reproductions. Copy out time is a mere 3.9 seconds and an innovative induction heating fusing system results in warm up times of only 30 seconds.
