Modem Graphics Augments Package Print Capabilities

Press release from the issuing company

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. -- Modem Graphics, Inc. strives to always make decisions that are in the best interest of the company and its customers. Over the years, that has meant broadening its product offerings and branching out into new markets.  It also has meant adding new production capabilities, including several Mitsubishi sheetfed presses.

The commercial printer and graphic services provider recently made a key equipment decision, installing a Mitsubishi Diamond 3000LX with aqueous coater. Capable of printing up to 40-point board, the six-color, 40-inch press provides superior-quality commercial and packaging printing. The press is equipped with the fully automated SimulChanger plate-changing system, an increasingly requested option on new Mitsubishi sheetfed presses.

Modem Graphics, the printing component of L.A. Modem Group, which is based in Los Angeles, was founded as a prepress color separation and film output specialist in 1988. Modem Graphics expanded into commercial printing in 1997. A six-color, 40-inch Mitsubishi 3F press with coater made the transition an easy one.

The company's long-term relationship and the personalized service it receives from Mitsubishi have been very beneficial for Modem Graphics. The printer acquired its second six-color 3F press in 2001, along with a six-color, 28-inch 1F press.

Modem Graphics followed these purchases with a six-color Diamond 3000LX in 2005. The company added the Diamond 3000LX wide stock range press to capture a bigger share of print volume available in the production of end-user boxes for the food and consumer electronics industries. A six-color Diamond 3000S commercial press went into production in 2006.

Modem Graphics caters to corporate clients, advertising agencies and print brokers, performing prepress, press and bindery functions in-house. Its modern electronic prepress department is outfitted with state-of-the-art computer-to-plate technology. The bindery features die cutters, gluers, saddle stitchers and folders.

In addition, L.A. Modem Group works with clients to develop successful advertising campaigns, assembling production teams and handling postproduction tasks.

Multicolor corporate reports, product catalogs and marketing brochures for the automotive, entertainment, manufacturing and high-end retail industries are mainstays of Modem Graphics' commercial print business.
