Washington - U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) Director Davita Vance-Cooks announces the retirement of General Counsel Drew Spalding.  A career Federal attorney, Spalding joined GPO’s Office of General Counsel in 1975.  Over the years he has held the positions of Attorney-Advisor, Associate General Counsel, Ethics Counselor, and Deputy General Counsel, becoming the agency’s General Counsel in 2011.  Spalding has been part of agency legal and ethical matters for 41-years.

Spalding started his Federal career as a staff member at the Presidential Clemency Board and then the Office of the U.S. Pardon Attorney in the Department of Justice.  Prior to graduating from law school, Spalding was a commissioned First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.  He is a graduate of Bowdoin College and the Boston University Law School.
