SPGPrints/Stovec to launch Pegasus EVO automatic rotary screen machine and demonstrate the JAVELIN digital printer at ITME 2016

Thursday, November 17, 2016

Press release from the issuing company

Boxmeer, NetherlandsSPGPrints and Stovec Industries Ltd will present the latest SPGPrints digital inkjet and rotary screen printing technologies that enable textile printers to optimise uptime and print on the widest range of fabrics at India-ITME  2016, (booth H5 A16, Bombay Exhibition and Convention Centre, Mumbai, 3-8  December).

Based in the Netherlands, SPGPrints is the leading supplier of systems and technologies for all stages of analogue and digital textile printing. Stovec Industries Ltd (based in Ahmedabad, India) is a subsidiary of SPGPrints that has supplied and serviced SPGPrints technologies in the Indian market for more than four decades.

Mr Shailesh Wani, Managing Director, Stovec Industries Ltd, said, “We are known for our STORMAC branded RD range of Rotary Printing Machines in India.  The latest in the range is RD 8 Individual Drive Machines, which is highly successful. At India ITME 2016, we will be launching the new ‘PEGASUS EVO’ automatic printing machine, a successor to the popular Pegasus EVO from SPGPrints. Stovec will also present the JAVELIN® scanning digital inkjet printer to the Indian market for the first time. The printer will operate throughout the show, giving visitors a real-time experience of its quality, flexibility, productivity and ease of use. Print samples will be available for evaluation. In addition, we will demonstrate our popular screen engraving equipment ‘bestLEN 7412.’”

The Pegasus EVO Automatic Rotary Screen Printing Machine

The Pegasus EVO offers all the functionalities required by ever increasing quality conscious customers. Stovec, with its RD range of rotary printing machines, has installations in India, China, Bangladesh, Iran, the Netherlands, Spain and Mexico. With new features and many options, Pegasus EVO offers quality, reliability and an attractive price-performance ratio that makes it ideal for Indian and international customers.

When the machine is in idle mode, the printing head moves up, while the blanket is rotating. This reduces the machine maintenance, wear and tear of mechanical parts and also improves the printing accuracy and productivity. New design of screen head is simple, easy to handle and takes very less time for changing from one repeat to another repeat. Different kinds of squeegee systems can be mounted, like blade or magnetic roller, depending on customer demands.

The machine is equipped with a servo-motor for each position to ensure register and material movement. Each printing position can be adjusted individually, ensuring the highest print quality, combined with output efficiency and minimum waste.

Combined with the possibility of remote diagnostics, the Pegasus EVO is setting new standards in rotary screen printing.

JAVELIN scanning digital inkjet printer

SPGPrints’ JAVELIN scanning digital inkjet printer is designed for companies printing up to two million metres of textiles annually. JAVELIN has proven popular with companies taking the first step into digital textile printing, or with a need to supplement their existing capabilities.

The JAVELIN printer features SPGPrints’ unique Archer® technology. With nozzles 4mm from the substrate, compared to the more usual 1.5mm nozzle-fabric distance, a wider range of substrates can be run, and the chance of print head damage is reduced. Using only six colours, Archer technology enables a gamut wider than the HD-gamut of other digital textile printing solutions. In addition, SPGPrints’ ‘Archer Print Head Program’, provides a two-and-a-half-year guarantee on the print heads in combination with the use of accredited inks.

The JAVELIN printer uses a scanning action with an array of Fujifilm Dimatix Samba print heads delivering variable drop sizes (2pL-10pL) at resolutions of up to 1200 x 1200dpi to cover the 1850mm width for sharp image reproduction.

JAVELIN complements SPGPrints’ PIKE® digital printer that is capable of printing up to 13 million metres per year. The PIKE’s fixed-array printing bar comprises 43 print heads for single-pass printing in a width of 1850mm.

Expanded NEBULA textile inkjet ink range
SPGPrints’ portfolio of NEBULA inkjet inks for textile applications offer a broad colour gamut, optimised drying and excellent runnability with all digital printers using Kyocera print heads. Developed and manufactured by SPGPrints, the four ink chemistries in the NEBULA range address the widest range of textile applications and fabrics. These include:

  • Nebula Sublimation inks, for polyester fabrics, eliminate the need for post-processing by steaming or washing.
  • Nebula Reactive HD (high density) inks are for printing on all natural fibres.
  • Nebula Acid HD inks have been introduced for Polyamide (PA) Lycra swimwear, luxury silk items, like fashion scarves and neck ties, and wools.
  • Nebula Disperse inks, for polyester and blended fabrics, are specially formulated to provide both mist-free production that enables crisp, clean printing, and contamination-free drying.

bestLEN – State of the art laser engraver: effortless, repeatable quality in screen imaging

For 30 years, SPGPrints has developed laser engraving systems for imaging textile rotary screens. The result is a pre-print technology that offers unbeatable quality, productivity, operational cost and sustainability, compared with alternative processes.

Direct laser engraving is a single-step dry process: simply engrave the desired design and print. This eliminates costly consumables such as film, ink or chemicals, and time-consuming processes like exposing and washing. With minimal process steps, the chance of human error is greatly reduced. Equipped with special bestIMAGE software and automatic laser power calibration, bestLEN achieves unprecedented levels of repeatable quality and efficiency.

Rotary Screens

NovaScreen® screens offer the optimum in print quality and productivity for printing all kinds of fabrics, ranging from cotton, polyester and viscose, to silk, rayon and heavy materials like car upholstery. The high mesh count with streamlined bridges between specially shaped holes maximises paste transfer.

NovaScreen 135ED, with the largest wall thickness (120 micron), widest hole diameter (88 micron) and largest open area (22 per cent), is ideal for achieving even coverage, especially for blotches. NovaScreen 165ED (115-micron thickness, 19 per cent open area) is suited for the broadest range of applications, including blotches and halftones on knitwear.  Geometric shapes, fine outlines and four-colour printing are best with Nova 195ED (115 micron thickness 16 per cent open area) or Nova 195HD (115 micron thickness, 19 per cent open area).

Also exhibited is SPGPrints’ RandomScreen® that supresses moiré effects in halftones. The holes are arranged stochastically, eliminating undesired patterns in printed textiles. RandomScreen’s 125 mesh’s 79-micron hole-size contributes to paste savings, especially when printing pigment.
