SPGPrints presents solutions for screen and digital label production at Labelexpo India 2016

Wednesday, November 09, 2016

Boxmeer, Netherlands - During Labelexpo India, SPGPrints will exhibit high-quality, efficient and productive solutions covering every step in the rotary screen and UV-inkjet printing processes, at the stand it will share with Stovec Industries (booth H7 India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Nodia, 17 – 20 November 2016).

The stand, with a workbench preparing live jobs, will highlight the ease of adopting rotary screen printing thanks to SPGPrints technology, and the added-value branding potential the process.

Retrofittable RSI® (Rotary Screen Integration) units can be integrated with almost all label presses to perform in perfect synchronisation, inline with other processes.

Non-woven nickel re-engravable RotaMesh® and – on non-SPGPrints presses - reusable RotaPlate® screens offer durability and stability at up to 100m/min (330fpm). Both screen ranges cover the full range of applications from coarse effects and Braille to fine linework and text as small as 2-point size.

SPGPrints’ prepress exhibits offer fast, sustainable and digitised solutions for high-definition screen imaging.

rotaLEN is a direct laser engraving system for imaging rotary screens with resolutions of up to 4000dpi in s single step. The engraver’s sealed CO2 laser ablates the printed areas without film, chemicals or water. Its extended engraving width of 660mm (26in) accommodates wider RotaMesh screens or two RotaPlate meshes simultaneously. Files for rotaLEN can be prepared with SPGPrints’ software, providing optimum control when creating fine positive and negative images.

The variLEX® hybrid laser exposer is a single, digital imaging solution for high-definition flexo, dry-offset, screen and letterpress printing formes. It can be equipped with multi-beam diode lasers for ablating the black mask and/or for directly exposing UV-sensitive screen materials. variLEX is uniquely capable of ablation and exposure in one step and comes with SPGPrints’ own software solutions.

A workbench will demonstrate SPGPrints’ rotary screen workflow as a flexible, efficient way of applying numerous brand-enhancing, functional and tactile effects in one pass.

Established by SPGPrints more than 40 years ago, Stovec provides technical support, training and a fast, local supply of engraved and unengraved screens laser imaging equipment and the supply of imaged and unimaged screens to label converters in India.  With its manufacturing and engraving facilities in India, orders are not impeded by overseas deliveries, import duties or other delays, ensuring the best service for the Indian market.

Hank Guitjens, commercial manager label printing at SPGPrints, comments: “Rotary screen printing is an essential way of communicating brand quality in self-adhesive label printing, because of its unique ability to create striking effects such as the no-label look, tactile varnishes, metallic foil and vivid colours, as well as function effects like Braille or security features.”

“The SPGPrints rotary screen systems featured at Labelexpo India, coupled with the local support from Stovec Industries, provide label converters a way to adopt the rotary screen process and integrate it seamlessly into their workflow for a fast return on investment. Our broad choice in printing modules, screen meshes and prepress systems means we can offer a solution tailored to the application, budget and volume requirements of the printer.”

DSI® Digital UV-inkjet Workflow for Label Converting

The highlight of SPGPrints’ digital presentation at the Stovec Industries Labelexpo stand will be the DSI® UV-inkjet press. For versatile, high quality digital label printing on shorter-runs to meet today’s just-in-time delivery deadlines, the 330mm (13in)-wide DSI system prints up to ten colours digitally. Its variable printing capability means that the press can run multiple jobs without stopping the printer and produce multiple versions for highly localised, even personalised, markets.

In addition, using special orange and violet to augment CMYK, up to 90 per cent of the colour gamut can be achieved, while digital white offers an industry-leading 93 per cent optical density. SPGPrints’ proprietary UV-inkjet inks offer UV, chemical and scratch-resistance., fully compliant with safety standards for safe food / pharmaceutical packaging.
