Free WhatTheyThink webinar, sponsored by EFI, discusses successful workflow automation implementations

WhatTheyThink today reported that nearly 200 industry professionals registered to attend a free printing industry educational webinar, Tricks of the Trade in Workflow Automation. The session, which was sponsored by EFI, was moderated by WhatTheyThink Senior Editor Cary Sherburne and featured the stories of three companies who have transformed their businesses by automating workflow from order entry through shipping and invoicing.

“It’s always great to hear directly from printing companies who have implemented innovative and automated workflow,” said Sherburne. “The three companies that were featured in this session have done just that, achieving amazing increases in capacity without the need to add more staff. We hope their stories will inspire others who are working to become more efficient.”

Sherburne was joined by:

  • Paul Sprow, Manager of Digital Production and Mail Center for Arlington County, Virginia. With an eye toward being the County's sole source for printing and mail needs, Paul has made his department key in efficiency, cost effectiveness, and outstanding customer service.
  • Dave Wray, Workflow Specialist at CyberChrome, Inc. His primary role is improving speed and consistency in the operation using the latest technology and software solutions. He works with the customer service, prepress and pressroom departments to streamline file prep, job submission and other workflow elements.
  • Jason Biggs, President & COO, ZenPrint. Under Jason’s leadership, the company has implemented a blend of home-grown and packaged software solutions for a fully automated workflow driving its five digital presses from a single interface. NOTE: Biggs was unable to attend in person due to a family emergency but Sherburne shared his story based on in-depth conversations the two had earlier.

“The turnout for this session was great, with lots of audience questions,” said Eric Vessels, President of WhatTheyThink. “They have all done a great job of streamlining their operations, improving throughput and profitability. We appreciate the generosity of EFI in sponsoring this important industry event, making it available to our viewers at no charge."
