Web Carrier System Insures Wrinkle Free Sheeting Performance

Press release from the issuing company

MAXSON AUTOMATIC MACHINERY COMPANY (Westerly RI USA) outfits its high speed precision sheeters that run multiple webs simultaneously with an overhead web carrier system that assures wrinkle free web flow into the cutter and avoids ‘web wander’.

The low profile of the web carrier framework allows an Operator to safely and quickly thread the webs of up to six unwinds from floor level.  It incorporates a layout of low inertia rolls that support the webs as they are drawn into the sheeter.  The idler rolls are grooved to maintain constant traction with the web, thereby eliminating gathering and web wander while spreading the webs evenly the distance of the run. By keeping the webs separated until reaching the cutter, static build up is also minimized.

Within the carrier system, select rolls have the capability of being skewed by the Operator.  This adjustment addresses baggy edged rolls that can contribute to webs wrinkling.  Movement of up to +/- 3” (75 mm) is achievable.

The overhead web carrier system also incorporates dancer rolls that handle web fluctuations caused by egg shaped rolls.  Located immediately after the skew roll, the pneumatically loaded dancer roll smooths web flow by absorbing the taut-slack condition of out of round rolls which aids in more efficient decurling and better sheet length accuracy.
