Press release from the issuing company

Sayville, NY - The 2016 Printing Industry Sustainability Conference, hosted by the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) and held in Las Vegas, Sept. 13, energized and inspired sixty attendees, as well as fostered new ideas to promote sustainability in the printing industry.

Speakers shared experiences in sustainability and how they benefited their organizations and the industry. A breakfast panel, "World of Substrates," featured Mandy Hulke, 3M; Karin King, International Paper; Jodi Sawyer, FLEXcon; and Brett Thompson, Piedmont Plastics. The panel focused on new aspects for sustainability for fiber and non-fiber substrates. Keynote speaker Katerina Testerova, Sands Corporation, gave an in-depth and inspiring presentation about the sustainability initiatives underway at the Sands, Venetian and Palazzo in Las Vegas and around the world. She was followed by John Heaney, Advertiser's Printing Company and Nadereh Afsharmanesh, Earth Friendly Products, who spoke about their companies' commitments to take sustainability to the highest levels by continually finding additional ways to become a better business through sustainability. Christine Grant, Digital Color Concepts; Karin Grant, International Paper and Libra Balian, Ann Inc. shared how they work together to ensure a more sustainable supply chain from supplier to printer to brand.

Attendees had four opportunities to participate in one of seven roundtables where there was face-to-face exchange of ideas that will be resulting in new initiatives for SGP.  Many of the ideas that were discussed in these interactive, brainstorming sessions will be initiated immediately and others integrated into the 2017 SGP Business Plan.
