Press release from the issuing company

Attendees of Major U.S. Print, Packaging & Label Trade Shows Receive Complimentary Issue from Premier Finishing Trade Associations in Partnership with Mohawk and KDX.

MELBOURNE, FL – MGI Digital Technology, an industry leader in the digital print and embellishment space, has teamed up with PostPress Magazine to create a special limited edition, digitally enhanced cover of the Fall Issue in partnership with Mohawk Fine Papers and KDX Lamination. PostPress Magazine is the quarterly journal of the Foil & Specialty Effects Association (FSEA) and the Bindery Industries of America (BIA), affiliate of the Printing Industries of America (PIA).

Digital Postpress Industry Alliance

The magazine features a multi-textured, digitally embossed metallic cover card printed on the MGI Meteor 8700XL+ digital press and embellished with the MGI JETvarnish 3D & iFOIL digital enhancement press (No screens, plates or dies were used). The cover card was produced with Mohawk “Everyday Digital” paper, KDX “Silky Matte” lamination and accented with metallic gold foil.

The Future of Digital Finishing

Kevin Abergel, MGI Vice President of Marketing & Sales, stated “MGI is proud to help contribute our expertise to the rapidly growing world of digital finishing and embellishment. The opportunity to work with the official publication of respected print industry tradecraft associations such as the FSEA and BIA is very important to MGI. We believe that the future of print will be strengthened by digital embellishment as demand for elegance, personalization, versioning and short-runs continues to grow in popularity with corporate brands looking to connect with consumers.”

Case Study: Print Finishing Value for Packages & Labels

PostPress Magazine regularly publishes research & analysis that points to the fact that print finishing enhancements represent key factors in securing an influential role for the print industry of the future.

For example, in scientific studies conducted with the Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design & Graphics at Clemson University, an FSEA-sponsored consumer products research project showed that foil-enhanced packages & labels can attract the attention of shoppers more quickly and for a greater length of time when positioned on the shelves of supermarket aisles.

These findings illustrate the value of postpress enhancements to advertising agencies, brand owners and consumer packaged goods providers & converters. The advantages of digital personalization & postpress customization can even further help increase brand identification, strengthen customer relationships and support sales revenue growth.
