DAYTON, Ohio--June 19, 2002--Standard Register announces the appointments of William T. McCormick and Victor H. Moses to lead Six Sigma initiatives in two of the company's strategic business units. McCormick has joined Standard Register as director, Six Sigma, for the Document Management strategic business unit, while Moses has joined the company as director, Six Sigma, for the Label Solutions strategic business unit. Six Sigma is a process-improvement methodology used by world-class companies as they drive to reduce costs, improve service and increase customer loyalty. Standard Register launched its Six Sigma initiative in July 2001 with the election of Robert Crescenzi, a former Compaq vice president, as Standard Register's vice president of Six Sigma. Standard Register now has about 300 people (including green belts, brown belts, black belts, master black belts and champions) working on Six Sigma projects ranging from increasing production throughput to digitizing sales processes. "Six Sigma is helping us make dramatic improvements in how we operate -- enhancing our speed, accuracy, efficiency, and service in everything from developing new solutions to interacting with customers," said Peter Dorsman, chief operating officer. In their positions, McCormick and Moses are responsible for coordinating Six Sigma initiatives within their respective business units. McCormick was most recently with Compaq Computer Corporation in Houston, Texas, where he served as manager of black belts in the Customer Satisfaction and Quality Group for the Enterprise Services and Solutions Group. (Black belts help functional departments and business units identify, plan and implement Six Sigma projects.) He previously served as corporate manager for total quality management with Norand Corporation. McCormick began his career with Texas Instruments where he served as superintendent in Consumer Products Manufacturing and Service before becoming the total quality manager in the Semiconductor Group. McCormick holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Sociology from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma. He and his family reside in Springboro, Ohio. Moses joins Standard Register from Compaq Computer Corporation, where he served as corporate Six Sigma black belt/program manager. He also has prior leadership experience with General Electric Company in Six Sigma and operations. Moses started his career in General Electric's Corporate Manufacturing Management Program before becoming a manager of shop operations and a black belt in GE Industrial Systems. He later became a Services P&L business leader within GE Power Systems. Moses holds a master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, and a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas. A native of Dermott, Arkansas, Moses and his family have relocated from Houston, Texas, to Miamisburg, Ohio.
