Fujifilm to Demonstrate New Flexo, Digital and Hybrid Printing Solutions at Labelexpo Americas 2016

Press release from the issuing company

Booth # 5621 to feature hands-on demonstrations and live presentations daily

Hanover Park, Ill. – FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division is set for a powerful presence at the upcoming Labelexpo Americas 2016, in Rosemont, Illinois, featuring innovative solutions in flexo, digital and hybrid printing for a wide range of packaging applications.

Fujifilm booth # 5621 will provide live presentations and demonstrations of the Graphium, a UV digital hybrid inkjet press, designed specifically for the narrow web market. Graphium is a modular Hybrid UV inkjet press that provides the flexibility and productivity to print any number of complex projects requiring a wide gamut of colors on virtually any substrate. Graphium makes converting short to medium print jobs more profitable, as the press streamlines workflow, requires less setup material, and generates less running waste.

The modular UV Graphium inkjet combines a range of leading technologies including an innovative workflow, prepress and color management software, as well as inkjet head calibration technology, to ensure consistent quality and repeatable production.

Furthermore, it is one of the only modular digital inkjet presses that enables the integration of flexo and converting stations for hybrid production and conversion in a single pass - greatly expanding the opportunities that can be converted.

“We needed to add press capacity to meet rapid growth and increasing demand of our customers, while continuing to advance our digital printing capabilities,” said Jeff Kerlin, President and CEO, Tailored Label Products, a Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin-based print provider since 1984, and Graphium owner.

“The Graphium allows us tremendous flexibility, combining the advantages of both traditional flexographic and advanced digital print technologies,” adds Kerlin. “We can run four color process and white digitally, plus add specialty ink like a metallic or specific PMS solid color using flexo print decks, and run it all in-line. Having that flexibility gives us a distinct advantage and allows us to stand-out within the industry.”

Fujifilm’s commitment to flexo plates and inks will be readily apparent to attendees, both as part of the live presentations and dedicated display areas within the booth.

“Fujifilm’s Flenex flexo plates have transformed our business,” said Ryan Nelson, Imaging Manager, Four Lakes Label, a Sun Prairie, Wisconsin-based division of Western States Envelope & Label, and provider of labels, tags, and other printing products. “We are experiencing enhanced print capability, and our Flenex plates are consistently holding a .08% dot, up to a 95% dot linear,” says Nelson. “This results in extended color gamut and additional detail in highlight and quarter-tone values, which all but eliminates prep-manipulation for minimum dot. With 175 lpi, 1% dot, and superb dot structure, Flenex delivers consistent ultra-high quality prints.”

Truly innovative water-washable chemistry eliminates all solvents and wicking cloths associated with solvent and thermal plate-making systems, while getting to press faster, running longer, and producing outstanding print quality. Digital and analog versions in three durometers and several sizes are available and compatible with UV, LED, waterbase and solvent inks.

“With Flenex, we are making plates in about 32 minutes, compared to over 45 minutes with our previous thermal technology; that’s 25 percent faster with Flenex,” adds Nelson.

Fujifilm continues to lead the industry with innovative additions to their comprehensive portfolio of UV and water base flexo inks, showcasing the opacity and press speed of SuperNova White flexo ink, and varnishes that add gloss, texture, and special effects.

The new 720 Series of water-based inks for narrow and medium web flexographic printing are uniquely formulated to perform on both paper and film substrates. Like the 700 Series for paper, it is designed to simply ‘pour-and-print’ and eliminates the need for frequent on-press modifications. Both are fast drying, have excellent adhesion to both substrates, and deliver outstanding mileage due to better ink transfer and stronger colors compared to other water-based inks.

The 300 Series combination UV and LED ink range is the latest innovation from Fujifilm, enabling users to utilize one ink family for both UV and LED curing print platforms. This breakthrough introduction is a complete range of products, including process, standard and color match, opaque white, shrink white and coatings.

In addition to learning centers for each of the highlighted products, Fujifilm’s booth #5621, will feature a wide variety of high quality digital and hybrid labels produced on the Graphium, along with outstanding flexo printed labels utilizing Flenex water-wash plates and Fujifilm flexo inks.
