Delphax Announces First Installation of CR Series Publishing Systems

Press release from the issuing company

MINNEAPOLIS, June 12 -- Delphax Technologies Inc., a global provider of high-speed digital printing and publishing systems, announced today that the company has reached an agreement with LexisNexis Matthew Bender for the establishment of the first major reference site for the Delphax high-speed CR Series publishing system. Under the agreement Delphax will provide to LexisNexis Matthew Bender's Binghamton, N.Y., facility a publishing solution featuring two Delphax CR900P continuous-feed digital publishing systems, and a complement of finishing equipment including the new Stralfors LX500 Finishing System. The first 900-page-per-minute CR900P system has completed extensive testing at Matthew Bender, and a second CR900P system will be shipped at the end of June. As with other Delphax manufactured print systems, the CR Series systems can be upgraded in the field to provide Delphax customers with vital investment protection. Both CR Series systems at Matthew Bender will be upgraded to handle 1,300-page-per-minute speeds later this year, as increased production is required. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. "Our CR Series publishing systems are ideal for high-speed printing and handling of a variety of paper substrates, including the ultra lightweight paper that Matthew Bender's applications require," said Jay Herman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Delphax Technologies Inc. "The installation of these systems represents our initial market penetration into the publishing market and is a significant step toward achieving our long-term strategic plan. Our alliance with Matthew Bender provides us with a means to demonstrate the unmatched speed and paper-handling capabilities of these systems in a publishing environment. In addition, both units will be included in a service plan which covers consumables, supplies and a dedicated Delphax service team." Les Howard, Vice-President of Manufacturing and Distribution for LexisNexis Matthew Bender, said, "Our selection of the CR900P followed careful evaluation of several large-scale print systems. With its unique combination of speed and print quality, the Delphax system demonstrated significant productivity improvements and cost savings in the production of case law documents and other variable-data publishing applications." Delphax Technologies' CR Series high-volume, roll-fed production systems offer industry-leading speed and feature the company's exclusive electron beam imaging (EBI) print engine technology. The systems feature high quality image and wide-format, duplex production at full 600 DPI print quality for publishers, direct mailers, bill and statement printers, in-house data and document centers and service bureaus.
