Colter & Peterson has outstanding large format options ready for SGIA Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Paterson, NJ – Colter & Peterson is North America’s largest independent distributor of paper cutting and paper handling solutions, and for good reasons. The innovative company is always pushing the boundaries of new technology to discover ways of cutting paper faster, safer and more efficiently. It will be quite evident when SGIA Expo attendees visit Colter & Peterson’s booth (#316), September 14-16 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Feeding off the success from last year’s event, C&P will feature several versions of the highly popular Microcut® computer control systems, in addition to the widely successful Saber® line of paper cutters. Since entering an agreement with and having equipment integrated and certified together with HP Indigo earlier this year, size changes and productivity improvements are proving to be very beneficial for printers who do large format and digital short-run work.

The Saber brand, led by the Saber XXL and X15 Plus models, is back in the spotlight after leading a sales surge at SGIA in 2015. New this year is the 141” top-end size, which keeps increasing to meet market demand.

The Saber XXL and X15 Plus machines cut all day and are incredibly reliable. Large format owners report that both models work extremely well cutting paper, board, styrene, vinyl and corrugated material. Depending on the model, up to 7” of material can be cut at a time. Cutting piles of square or rectangular sheets save a tremendous amount of time when compared to I-Cut, Kongsberg or other X-Y axis cutters that can only cut one sheet at a time.

With nearly 35,000 installations, Microcut is the most popular retrofit system on the market and fits any size new or rebuilt paper cutter from 20 to 150 inches. At SGIA, visitors will want to check out the Microcut COLOR, Microcut JR and Microcut PLUS WS versions. Each one makes any paper cutter safer, more efficient and productive with the newest technology available.

Microcut PLUS WS offers advantages to larger print operations with microcip® and microfacts®. These time-saving features are coupled with touchscreen controls and easy set-up that can help raise productivity by 50% or more. PLUS WS also uploads job information from a network connection with a USB device using CIP 3/4 files, and no additional hardware or software is needed.

Microcut COLOR has similar programming advantages but without the networking or CIP functions, while Microcut JR is better suited for shops that utilize paper cutters up to 37” in size. Both of these versions do provide programming options such as label and sheet divide to help simplify complicated jobs, with only a few data entries required.
