Color Consistency and Up-Time of Fujifilm’s J Press 720S a Perfect Match for Walsworth

Press release from the issuing company

“The J Press 720S is the best quality digital print device”

Hanover Park, Ill. – FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division recently installed the second generation J Press 720S at Walsworth, a family-owned Marceline, Missouri-based publishing and print services provider.

Walsworth is among the 35 largest printing companies in the United States as well as a Top 10 book printer, with over 250,000 square feet of printing and binding facilities in Marceline. Additionally, Walsworth has many locations throughout the country, including the specialty book publisher Donning Company Publishers in Virginia Beach, Va., and The Ovid Bell Press in Fulton, Mo., which prints journals and magazines.

Having opened its doors in 1937, Walsworth now employs over 1,250 people worldwide, with more than 250 of its team boasting 20 or more years of service to the company, and at times, three generations have worked together simultaneously.

When the Walsworth team was looking at new digital capabilities to bolster its workload, the print quality on the J Press 720S stood out. “Quality covers sell our books,” said Gary O’Toole, GM of the finishing plant in Marceline. “The 720S delivers higher quality and better color consistency.  It’s a perfect match for our business needs.”

The J Press 720S is designed for print runs of just one or thousands, where traditional offset and other digital printing solutions fail to meet expectations. With a 29.5-inch x 20.9-inch sheet and an output of 2,700 sheets per hour, the 720S has become the ideal solution for printers like Walsworth looking for a product that features the quality and robustness of an offset press, combined with the versatility to handle even the shortest of press runs.

Within the first 90 days of service, their Fujifilm J Press 720S had logged 1.7 million impressions, freeing up offset capacity and allowing the Walsworth production team to run more jobs per shift. Since day one of the Walsworth installation the consistency and color reproduction that J Press 720S generates has been – and continues to be – spot on.

"We couldn’t be happier with the color stability, and we have great success with the up-time on the J Press 720S, especially when compared to our other digital presses," says Steve Bergner, J Press 720S operator, Walsworth.

“Our relationship with Fujifilm is great,” adds O’Toole. “The service group is very consistent, always very responsive to our needs if we need them. And that’s important, because we offer services internationally – not just down the street.”

Such service has kept Walsworth as a longtime Fujifilm customer. As for the J Press 720S, the possibilities are endless.

Says Chad Tillery, Walsworth’s pressroom manager, “I’ve experienced a lot of digital printing, and hands-down Fujifilm’s J Press 720S is the best quality digital print device I’ve ever seen.”
