RIT Expanding Focus on Printing Industry Education
Wednesday, June 05, 2002
June 5, 2002 -- A tradition of educational opportunities for members of the printing, publishing and imaging industries is being enhanced through a realignment of resources at Rochester Institute of Technology. RIT’s industry education programs are now incorporated within the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. The programs become a key component of the RIT Printing Industry Center, a forum for printing companies and associations to build partnerships that sustain growth and profitability within a rapidly changing market. "This new structure puts RIT in a position to remain the leader in educational outreach," explains Ken Posman, manager of industry education programs. "The result will be expanded programs that better serve the evolving needs of our graphic arts and imaging clients." Education seminars are available at RIT or can be customized for delivery on-site. Topics include introductory graphic arts, print production technologies, photographic technologies, imaging software, digital prepress and workflow, and imaging sciences and technologies. Industry education is only one facet of the RIT Printing Industry Center. Other components include academic programs offered through RIT’s School of Print Media and applied research and testing conducted at the Printing Applications Laboratory. RIT has been offering educational programs for members of the printing industry since 1951.
