Mayer & Söhne Druck- und Mediengruppe in Aichach have GEOMAN retrofitted

Press release from the issuing company

Mayer & Söhne Druck- und Mediengruppe (GmbH & Co. KG) are equipping their existing GEOMAN newspaper printing system from manroland web systems for the future and renewing the 17-year partnership between the two companies. Mayer & Söhne are investing in a comprehensive electrical and mechanical retrofit. The machine will be additionally equipped with the modern new control station "ControlCenter" from manroland web systems. The contract was signed at drupa 2016.

Retrofits from manroland web systems keep machines young and fit for the future, increase their level of availability and working lifetime, and ensure that the level of automation is of the highest standard. These were the arguments which convinced Mayer & Söhne Druck- und Mediengruppe (GmbH & Co. KG) to invest in a comprehensive electrical and mechanical retrofit from manroland web systems "If you don't want the "same old same old" in printing technology, and you want to increase the availability and efficiency of the machine, then Retrofit is exactly the right choice" explains Frank Kreisel, regional head of sales at manroland web systems. "We required higher levels of productivity and lower levels of production interruptions, which we will now get through the modernisation in the control and drive components. manroland web systems is the ideal partner to ensure our system is securely equipped for the future in order to continue offering our customers the highest quality" according to Erwin Neudecker, managing director of Mayer & Söhne Druck- und Mediengruppe (GmbH & Co. KG)..

The comprehensive E-Retrofit of the PECOM system and the mechanical Retrofit ensure the machine's availability and increase the system's reliability. Additionally the GEOMAN will be equipped with the new, modern ControlCenter: This control station is a completely novel Cockpit. Radical new operating elements and touch surfaces ensure a system that is easy to operate. This saves production time through real-time monitoring and correction possibilities during a running production. The MobilPad, a mobile control station, allows the operator to implement the functions directly on the printing machine.

Trailblazing technology

Just how ground breaking such retrofitting and re-equipping is for the future, is explained by Frank Kreisel: "We develop complete, tailor made Retrofit solutions for our customers. They increase the performance of existing machines by reducing machine downtimes and avoiding costs of production interruptions. The customer's Retrofit ensures higher production stability and at the same time technology which is fit for the future and highly automated". Markus Jaskolla, technical head at Mayer & Söhne Druck- und Mediengruppe (GmbH & Co. KG) continues: "We are really delighted with the successful agreement at drupa 2016 and we are sure that we have found the best partner for the future of our systems in manroland web systems".
