St Albans - Insight Print Media Limited has expanded into new premises, complete with a new Zünd G3 L2500 digital cutting table and wide-format printing equipment. 

Based in Bedminster in Bristol, Insight Print Media was founded in 2010 as a full-service agency, developing clients' ideas, offering advice and providing design, mock-ups and production and branding solutions, using screen, litho and digital print technologies.

After sharing a building and a Zünd G3 with another company for six years, Insight Print Media decided to purchase its own cutting table to accompany its move to larger premises.

"Zünds are at the higher end of cutting/sampling tables, with good reason; they are premium machines that offer quality and precision," says Kevin Davidson, Innovations Director and Co-Founder of Insight Print Media. "In fact we didn't think we could afford it but Zünd UK was able to work out a deal we could manage. Frankly, buying a cheaper machine would not be in keeping with our ethos as a business."

Since its installation at Insight Print Media the Zünd G3 L2500 has been put to work on a huge range of projects, from graphics for super-sized hoarding structures to 3D parrots with flip-flops for feathers. The business has also recently developed a range of temporary point of sale units for blue chip brands that are manufactured and distributed throughout Europe, and has designed and manufactured bespoke acrylic literature dispensers for a local brand with stores across the UK.

"There's lots of creativity in Bristol at the moment," says Kevin Davidson. "We appeal to the many design agencies who are looking for a partner with the expertise and equipment to develop their ideas."

He adds: "We cut everything on the new Zünd – Re-board, Dibond, box board, acrylic, wood, cardboard – and it does everything perfectly, as we'd expect. It also gives us the flexibility to cut, rout or crease any material.

"Zünd UK's engineers gave us a refresher course, which was brilliant; we found out things the Zünd could do that we'd forgotten or didn't have time to learn with our first machine."

After it was installed, Insight Print Media opted to upgrade the Zünd G3's cutting head, demonstrating the flexibility of the Zünd range. Both the Zünd G3 and the Zünd S3 have a modular configuration which allows users to choose the right cutting heads, tools and material handling systems at the time of purchase and to upgrade, add or change them retroactively. This means Zünd tables can adapt to evolving production needs and retain market value well over time.

The Zünd G3 uses innovative technology to maximise automation, reliability and production while minimising maintenance and energy costs. Adjustable vacuum generators assist robust system components to create perfectly precise, high-quality output on materials ranging from rigid acrylic to textiles – which is why Zünd cutting tables are the preferred brand for manufacturers in industries as diverse as aviation, graphics and fashion.

In addition to the Zünd G3, Insight Print Media bought a Roland SOLJET PRO 4 XR-640 wide-format printer and is about to invest in a large flatbed digital printer, which will enable it to offer a complete design, development and production service using in-house equipment.
