Jones Printing Service doubles speed with Stahlfolder TH 82 from Heidelberg

Monday, May 23, 2016

Press release from the issuing company

Kennesaw, Ga – Two months after the installation of a Stahlfolder TH 82 4/4/4 with SBP pressing stacker, Jones Printing Service, Inc. has cut down makeready times, increased productivity and improved quality.

“This machine produces far superior folds,” said Harry Jones, President. “Not only has our quality increased, but we’ve improved our makeready times by 75%, and we are producing twice as fast as we were with our older folders.”

Say Goodbye to Bottlenecks

Prior to the Stahlfolder installation, the commercial printer ran a number of older competitive folders in its postpress department (the last purchase dating back to 6 years) — resulting in bottlenecks throughout the plant.

“We run an existing Speedmaster XL 105 press,” said Jones. “The production capabilities of that press forced us to run 2-3 folders to keep up with our offset department. Even with the help of other machines, we were left with bottlenecks in the shop. Now, we can depend primarily on the Stahlfolder to do the work [while saving our older folders as a backup], allowing us to accommodate tighter turnaround times.”

The technology and automation of the Stahlfolder provides added benefits for the Virginia printer including the ability to select appropriate folds from a folding catalog, and store and recall jobs from memory. “If we need to break in the middle of a job, we can easily save the settings, run a different job and reset back to the previous job at a later time. The technology and ease of operation delivers huge time savings for us.”

An Investment for the Future

For the family-owned business, the investment in the new technology is a step towards the future. “We are preparing for the third generation to take over the company,” said Jones. “This purchase is for them. The industry is constantly changing, and the need to keep up with client demands is paramount. We look at this machine as a stepping stone to our business goals.”

Since 1975, Jones Printing Service has been breaking the mold of traditional commercial printing companies by expanding their service offerings and investing in state-of-the-art equipment. From spot colors to full four-color jobs, Jones Printing achieves top quality color while being environmentally friendly and offering the best service at competitive pricing.
